This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Department of Energy in the Office of Inspector General, Office of Audits. As a Auditor (Performance), you will be performing routine audits by assisting higher-graded auditors with more complex audits and serveing as a member of an audit team ensuring audit readiness and compliance across the activity.
Qualifications:This position has a Basic Requirement/Positive Education requirement.
You must have:
A. Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
- A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
- Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for the GS-9 Grade Level is defined as: one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level of federal service. Specialized experience must reflect all the following:
- Experience in systematic examination and appraisal of both financial and non- financial records, assisting auditors with cost, inventory, and administrative auditing.
- Analyzing and evaluate audit findings;
- Utilizing traditional and advanced audit procedures to complete audits for compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Assisting with records keeping and examination to determine compliance with governing regulations, legislation, and operating controls.
- Experience assessing the performance of an organization, program, or activity.
- Providing a wide variety of program effectiveness and results, internal controls, and compliance.
- Knowledge and experience in records-keeping, analyzing, and evaluating audit findings.
- Participation in examination appraisal of various financial and non-financial records.
