Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for an Internal Auditor or Senior to join our Audit Services team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does an Internal Auditor or Senior do for us?
Support the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and senior management by providing an independent and objective assurance and consulting function that reviews corporate activities and furnishes evaluations and recommendations. Under supervision performs planning, designs audit programs, schedules, and conducts audits, consulting, and other evaluations/assessments of complex financial, operational, and/or IT processes. Identifies risks and controls, concludes on the effectiveness of controls, and determines how the effectiveness of the internal controls affects achievement of corporate objectives and compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and external regulation. Develops and prepares reports for presentation to all levels of management. Participates in annual company-wide risk assessment.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Knowledge of:
Auditing standards and techniques
Internal control standards (COSO), Information systems controls (COBIT), Sarbanes-Oxley Act Section 404
Familiarity with Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) auditing standards
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Skills in:
System and process analysis
Interpersonal communication and business writing
Process flowcharting
Workpaper design and preparation
Data analytics
Risk-based auditing
Ability to:
Plan, perform, and document audit tests utilizing standard audit techniques in accordance with applicable auditing standards
Review company systems and related controls including policies, procedures, and technical documents to ensure compliance
Design risk-based audit objectives and tests to achieve those objectives
Communicate progress, findings, and recommendations clearly, concisely and in a logical manner, to all levels of management
Quickly learn varied and complex concepts and make sound judgments based on analysis of facts
Maintain objectivity and function in a confidential manner
Maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients
Be self-motivated, well-organized, and project oriented
Complete projects within deadlines while limiting the impact to the business
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Internal Auditor:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in business or related discipline
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in auditing business processes and activities, or equivalent related experience
Preferred:
- Public accounting firm experience, large public company experience, IT, or IT audit experience
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
Preferred:
- Professional certification (CIA, CISA, CPA or similar)
Senior Internal Auditor:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in business or related discipline
Experience:
- 5 or more years of experience in auditing business processes and activities, or equivalent related experience
Preferred:
- Public accounting firm experience, large public company experience, IT, or IT audit experience
Licenses & Certifications:
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
Professional certification (CIA, CISA, CPA) or ability to obtain certification within one year
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is a sedentary job requiring working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. Ergonomic accommodations including sit to stand desks are available and installed as needed.
