Overview/Purpose: The Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for running the technical aspects of multi-platform worship at First Universalist Church. The A-V Technician works in collaboration with the Tech Team while being supervised by the Minister.
FLSA Status: nonexempt
Schedule: Part Time- 3 hours on Sundays, with occasional additional events as negotiated.
Accountability: Minister
A-V Tecnician’s job responsibilities include:
● Set -up and take down Sunday morning technical equipment .
● Turn on the sound system and run a sound check before the service begins.
● Review Extended Order of Service in advance.
● Run, host, and record Zoom service.
● Run audio components of the service.
● Manage Zoom security during the service in conjunction with the “grushers”.
● Share PDF slides for hymns or stories, together with any external media.
● Share announcement video before and after service on wall screens.
● Spotlight any remote participants during the service.
● In the event of an entirely online service, host Zoom, share slides, and spotlight people who are speaking during the service.
● Work in collaboration with the Online Ministry Team to admit new Zoom participants, share announcements and Joys & Concerns in the chat, and run the virtual coffee hour.
● Download and save a copy of the video recording of the service.
● Work in collaboration with the Tech Team to perform updates as needed to ensure smooth operation of audio-visual equipment on Sunday mornings.
● Meet once a week with the minister, staff, and lay leaders to plan the coming service.
● Be available outside of Sunday morning for occasional memorial services and community events.
● Be available to train volunteer A-V Technicians to be substitutes when necessary.
Education/Experience:
● Relevant work experience is a plus.
● Strong knowledge of computers and software associated with multi-platform worship: Zoom, OBS/OSC, Bitfocus Companion, audio equipment, video equipment (PTZ camera).
● Training for the church’s systems will be provided.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 – 4 per week
