The Audio-Visual Engineer is responsible for pre-sales and post-sales engineering including design discovery meetings, site surveys, system design, shop drawings and engineering handoff meetings. The AV Engineer will work directly with the AV team to ensure project deliverables are created in a timely manner and with exceptional accuracy. The AV Engineer will communicate with customers directly as well as internally with the sales and operations teams at various points during the project life cycle.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work directly with customers to understand functional design needs and budgetary limitations.
- Conduct site surveys to gather information both during the pre-sales and post-sales process.
- Create comprehensive system designs including all aspects of the audio-visual system including video routing, conferencing, audio, control and network.
- Deliver estimates which include both a high-level functional scope as well as materials and labor pricing.
- Competently review design scope with customers and answer any questions they may have regarding the design you have completed.
- Build shop drawings for every contracted project, including but not limited to elevation drawings, floor plans, line diagrams, cable pull schedules, rack elevations, and reflected ceiling plans.
- Create a functional scope of work document to be reviewed and signed off by the customer.
- Conduct an engineering handoff meeting with the project manager and lead AV technicians to answer any questions they may have regarding the project install.
- Participate in bi-weekly AV Engineering meetings.
- Provide excellent documentation throughout the project life cycle to ensure all teams have up to date information regarding the status of the project.
- Ability to discuss and understand high level AV technology with clients of all kinds (technical and non-technical).
- Ability to follow team processes and procedures around pre-sales and post-sales engineering.
- Ability to work quickly, efficiently and accurately on AV system designs and drawings.
- Ability to read technical RFP’s and produce a quality response.
- Ability to read and understand engineering diagrams including but not limited to architectural drawings, floor plans, line diagrams, elevation drawings, rack elevations, reflected ceiling plans and network diagrams.
- Ability to understand key technical AV concepts like multicasting, audio DSP, video conferencing, etc.
- 5+ years of AV system design experience.
- Avixa CTS Certification (CTS-D preferred)
- DSP Certification (Biamp or QSC preferred)
- AV Design Certification (Crestron or Extron preferred)
- Experience using design software such as AutoCAD, BlueBeam Revu, Visio, Stardraw, etc.
- Must be proficient in Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
