What is the opportunity?  

  

The Audio Specialist role is a critical team member in successfully delivering industry leading quality audio systems. This role supports the design, installation, testing, training, and support for Audio systems as part of our overall Audio/Visual solution. The job includes travel during peak install seasons and may flex to support other audio, design, or service activities during slower install periods.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct site surveys to support sales or design activities with accurate and detailed information for accurate quoting and project design. 
  • Support project success from design through completed install. 
    • Design review and redlines. 
    • Develop site specific audio control DSP (Digital Signal Processing) and user experience. 
    • Work with Project Managers and subcontractors for installation success. 
    • Supervise part or all of installation activities, directing, overseeing, and/or managing subcontractors. 
    • Represent Daktronics during on site meetings with contractors or customers.  
    • Assist with system terminations and overall system verification.  
    • Complete system tuning for professional audio performance.  
    • Conduct operator training.  
    • Support events for successful operation and system performance.  
  • Support escalated service requests.  
    • Provide remote or onsite support to diagnose and resolve customer issues.  
    • Support field service or service partners.  
    • Support annual system checks directly or remotely.  
    • Effectively document cases and escalate concerns.  
  • Represent Daktronics in a positive and professional manner.  
    • Professional communication with customers, subcontractors, and all other stakeholders required.  
    • Maintain regular communication with project managers, team leads, and other leadership or team members.  
    • Coordinate or share status, communications, or direction with customers and subcontractors. 
    • Become knowledgeable of and follow company rules and procedures. 
  • Support overall audio offering success.  
    • Support standard product development, documentation, and testing.  
    • Work with production and service teams creating knowledge documents, training, and mentoring. 
    • Developing relationships and shared expectations for subcontractor and AV integrator partners. 
    • Continue to develop audio knowledge and training through industry training, such as Syn-Aud-Con, AVIXA, Rational Acoustics Smaart, etc. 
  • Work effectively as a team member. 
  • Work effectively and efficiently with little direct oversight. Support high quality work. 
  • Actively work to improve our processes, tools, and performance. 
  • Support audio knowledge and experience growth across the company. 
  • Be flexible to help where needed for overall team and company success. 

Where will I be working?  

As an Audio Specialists you have the flexibility to work remote from a U.S. home office, a campus location, or both. Current campus locations include Brookings or Sioux Falls, SD. This position is open to candidates eligible to work in the U.S.The job includes travel during peak install seasons (June-September), which can require overtime, including weekends. Typical travel estimated at 10-20 visits per year, multiple days each. 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET), Electrical Engineering (EE), or other technical degree with experience with audio systems preferred. Associate's degree in related technical field may be considered.   
  • Daktronics Installation and Field Support experiences preferred.  
  • Audio experiences preferred, including:   
    • Professional experience with sound systems.  
    • Experience with industry standard software programs such as Rational Acoustics Smaart,Harman Audio Architect, Q-Sys, Wireless Workbench, EASE, L-Acoustics Soundvision, d&b Array Calc. 
    • Experience setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting network systems or the ability to learn and confidently support networked audio systems. 
  • Confidence in working with customers, contractors, and others in a positive and professional way is critical. 
  • Physical requirements include the ability to: 
    • Work at heights or from a ladder and able to carry ladder/tools/parts from vehicle to work site. 
    • Lift, carry and move up to 45 pounds. 
    • Work in a variety of environments, including cold/hot weather, small spaces. 
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal. 
  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment. 
  • Willing and able to travel by air and ground, including US and Canada. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
