Job Description
We are currently looking for an Attorney in the DC Metro area. This attorney will provide legal services and counsel on all areas of construction law. Construction industry knowledge to resolve and represent the company in disputes at all stages of construction projects.

Duties and responsibilities
- Prepare, modify and negotiate construction contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders and related agreements.
- Assist in the administration of commercial construction projects.
- Prepare correspondence and, claims on behalf of the company
- Understand commercial insurance issues affecting construction projects.
- Knowledgeable and experienced in:
-mechanic's lien laws,
-stop notices,
-prompt payment issues,
-payment and performance bonds,
-commercial insurance issues affecting construction projects.
Assist in preparation of claims for contract extras, change orders, delay damages, time extensions, defective work, and understand substantive law surrounding these issues.
- Assist in resolution of construction claims and disputes regarding changes, delays, defects, torts, payments, bond claims, and liens.
- Possess excellent writing skills, interpersonal skills and a sound understanding of practical issues affecting construction projects.
- Ability to interface with the company, clients, and vendors and convey a level of professionalism and competence.
- Familiarity with AIA Contract Documents preferred.
Qualifications
- Five or more years of legal experience with commercial construction contracts and/or commercial construction litigation required. Litigation experience a plus.
- Current knowledge of the construction industry.
- Licensed attorney - required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Additional Position details
- Part-time - Remote
- 20-25 Hours per week
- Exempt
- Occasional travel required.
