CLARKSTON HIGH SCHOOLRequest for Contractor Services: Athletic Trainer Position: ContractedPay: $58,000 Annually (pro-rated for the 2023-2024 school year) Clarkston School District is seeking a contracted Athletic Trainer for Clarkston High School. This contracted Athletic Trainer will be directed by Clarkston High School's Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Assignment: The Athletic Trainer will provide training to high school students who are interested in assisting student-athletes and will work towards a class offering for Intro to Sports Medicine. This position requires the trainer to be available via telephone at all times during sporting events and practices including all home league games and district, regional, and state playoff games.
This position also requires that the trainer be available in person within 30 minutes of an emergency during these events. REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES:Treatment, supervision, and follow-up of treatment for all minor athletic injuriesReferring athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosisDevelop and supervise appropriate rehabilitation programs for athletes under the direction of the physicianDetermine if a player is capable of continued participation in a game and/or practice if the player is injuredReporting injuries to coaches, parents, and the athletic office and developing an annual report of athletic injuriesMaintaining an athletic file on all athletes to include a current physical, interim questionnaire, emergency card, injury reports, and any information deemed necessaryThe safe operation, inventory, and submitting new supply requests of all training room suppliesGiving basic instruction to athletic staff members in the prevention and care of student injuriesAssists and advises the coaching staff regarding injury prevention and conditioningTraining and supervising student trainers during practices and athleticShall be on duty each school day during the fall season until 5:30 p.m., the winter season until 5:00 p.m., and the spring season until 4:30 p.m. to treat and rehabilitate athletic injuriesA trainer's responsibilities lie with the treatment of athletic injuries; therefore, the trainer should not coach a school-relatedCommunicate effectively with district staff, students, and parents and maintain an active association with professional coachingFollow district procedures in the event of an athlete'sProvide conditioning and flexibility training suggestions to the school coaching staff under the direction of a licensed physician to be provided through theAttend the school's practices, games and other functions, unless the school has scheduled two or more events at the same time.
In such instances, the Athletic Trainer, in conjunction with the school's athletic director, shall determine which athletic events are to be attendedAdminister ImPact testingInspect and take inventory of all team medical kits prior to the beginning of each season and coordinate with the Assistant Principal/Athletic Director to order supplies in a timelyMonitor the athletic trainingFacilitate communication among an injured athlete, the Assistant Principal/Athletic Director, parent/guardian and the team and the student's familyCommunicate with the school nurse and teachers directly regarding injuries and concussions Qualifications:Education/Certification: ATC certificationFirst Aid/CPR card per WIAA guidelinesCompleted or are completing all WIAA trainings and requirementsOR Licensed EMT or Licensed PT Duration of contract: through July 2024 with the option to roll over up to two additional years. Either party can communicate the intent to the other party of their wishes to extend the duration of the contract preferably thirty or more days prior to the end of the current contract.
