North Central Ohio ESCEssential Functions:
• Arrange for timers, scorekeepers, ticket personnel, and administrative personnel involved in the total operation of all
athletic events
• Attend staff, league and local council meetings and in-services as required
• Coordinate all interscholastic athletics in grades 7-12
• Coordinate, administer and maintain file of game contracts with coaches
• Coordinate and ensure photographic coverage of athletic events and distribute passes for authorized individuals
• Coordinate activities in conjunction with the athletic boosters
• Counsel, advise and encourage student athletes with integrity
• Create requisitions related to athletic purchasing following proper purchasing protocols
• Devise, implement and engage in athletic program fund-raising activities
• Ensure safety of students and staff
• Ensure all coaches receive and sign-off on an athletic handbook prior to each sport's season
• Ensure all spectator facilities are ready for all contests
• Ensure all student athletes receive physical examinations prior to the beginning of their respective athletic season
• Ensure there are procedures in place that secures all athletic assets and that they are secured daily
• Ensure all coaches have and maintain an active and up-to-date Pupil Activity Permit (P.A.P) prior to the start of their
respective season
• Ensure all athletic monies are deposited following board policy and Ohio law requirements
• Implement and enforce student athletic program rules, regulations and policies
• Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
• Interact with public in official capacity regarding athletic program
• Maintain current inventories of all equipment and supplies on hand
• Maintain a record file of all award winners, including athletic scholarships
• Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student files
• Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
• Notify coaches of ineligible students
• Observe head coaches engaged in an athletic activity during the season
• Organize and supervise an award's night
• Prepare written reports when required
• Procure concession services and schedule use of gymnasium and other outside athletic facilities for games
• Promote good public relations
• Responsible for contracting with all sporting officials
• Responsible for all workers at athletic contests
• Responsible for pre-season athlete/parent meeting as well as pre-season coaches meeting
• Responsible for all general admission ticket sales
• Responsible for posting all coaching vacancies
• Responsible for hiring of all 7-12 coaches in accordance with the established timelines
• Responsible for the athletic account budget including all expenditures and receipts
• Schedule all sporting events
• Supervise coaches in cooperation with high school principal
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Evaluate coaches with a Board of Education approved evaluation tool at the conclusion of each sport
• Make recommendations to the High School Principal for coaches renewal, renewal with conditions
• Perform other duties as assigned by the High School Principal or Superintendent
• Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
• Serve as a role model for students
• Hold a minimum of two annual Athletic Council meetings, more if needed
• Present to the Board of Education minimally four times a year or as requested
Qualifications:
• Appropriate State of Ohio teaching certification/license preferred
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university preferred
• License and training in first aid and CPR/AED
• Related coaching and leadership experience preferred
• Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to work effectively with others
• Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
• Effective, active listening
• Knowledge of athletics
• Knowledge of the following: Maintenance of facilities, vehicles, outdoor fields and familiarity with necessary
construction projects
• Organizational and problem-solving skills
SALARY: Per Negotiated Agreement
