Athletic Director
Salary - Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Position Purpose
The Athletic Director fosters high standard of integrity, athletic excellence, and academic success; attains engagement, donor, and sponsorship goals, leads and fiscally manages a competitive NJCAA Division III athletic program; develops excellent relationships with both internal and external constituents; and directs and hires coaches who are committed not only to winning, but to the student experience and compliance with the rules.
The Athletic Director will need experience in athletics, with a preference for working experience in coaching. This position requires people skills with strong professionalism as an outward facing employee.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leads athletic fundraising and engagement initiatives. Partners with relevant college employees to develop partnerships and reach internal goals for athletic sponsorships and gifts. Leverage alumni, fans and students to promote community engagement, increase game attendance, and build donor networks.
  • Build strong relationships with local, regional, and border state schools and communities.
  • Recruits, manages, and develops coaching staff who field competitive teams, attains the college’s student success and academic performance goals, and enable an engaged, well-rounded student athletic experience. Maintains an effective staff capable of administering the athletic department’s operations including, but not limited to personnel and budget.
  • Manages full and part-time coaching staff and evaluates contract renewals for coaching staff.
  • Maintains compliance with relevant governmental regulations and with the college, NJCAA, and conference policies, rules and regulations.
  • Reviews the effectiveness of the athletics organization. Adjusts for performance expectations and seeks opportunities to be more effective and leverage college-wide resources and talent.
  • Oversight of all game and travel scheduling, athletic rosters, and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Creates an environment that promotes respect toward others and instills integrity in each student-athlete
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in NJCAA, NAIA, or NACEE athletic programs is preferred.
  • A demonstrated knowledge and record of fund raising.
  • Knowledge of Title IX regulations and NJCAA policies.
  • Ability to lead and manages a team of full and part-time staff.
  • Strong fiscal/budget management skills related to an athletics program or team.
  • Demonstrated high energy for the college’s student centered ethical culture, for fielding successful teams, and for raising the college’s profile through the athletic program.
  • Critical to this position is enthusiasm, dependability, flexibility, and responsiveness.
  • Excellent attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through to achieve goals.
  • The ability to anticipate needs and proactively address them, to learn quickly, and to reliably complete work in a timely manner to high standards in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to continuously prioritize work, set and achieve effective goals and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to handle high volume workloads and juggle priorities.
  • Willingness to seek out guidance or information to perform duties.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, and the willingness to learn computer skills as needed.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Maintain a neat, well organized work space which projects a high level of professionalism for interactions with all student and visitor to the Athletics Office.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and problem solving skills, along with the ability to take initiative and make decisions.
  • Ability to work independent and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to perform complex administrative duties
