An American Pharmaceutical Company legal organization is looking for a dynamic attorney skilled in Intellectual Property to join the team. The principal mission of this role is to coordinate with Search and Evaluation, Business Development (BD) professionals, and IP and Transactions Center of Excellence (TCoE) lawyers on IP due diligences, and to draft, review and negotiate scientific and IP related provisions in a variety of agreements (e.g. material transfers, licenses, research collaborations, and acquisitions). This role will also advise leadership and senior management in BD, Business Units (BU) and/or Lilly Research Labs (LRL) on IP-related diligence and transactional issues, and facilitate and coordinate post-execution integration, including working with agreement management systems, Alliance Management, LRL and BUs as necessary.This role requires unique skills that intersect our legal, scientific and business development areas. Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a scientific field that together with prior work experience, provides essential background for effective communication with scientists and management about scientific aspects of discovery, development, and commercialization of all aspects of pharmaceutical products, including small molecule, antibody, siRNA, gene therapy and gene editing products.
- Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. institution.
- Seven or more years of post-JD experience as a practicing patent attorney with significant transaction negotiation experience, including in-licensing, out-licensing, divestures, and acquisitions of platform technology to clinical assets to commercial products, in a law firm or industry.
- Presently admitted to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction and presently licensed to represent clients in patent matters before the USPTO; in good standing in each state and in the USPTO; no disciplinary issues on record.
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Information:
Preferred location is Indianapolis, IN but will consider remote with travel as needed.
