Description
The Associate Vice President, Financial Services provides leadership on policy matters, planning and positioning relating to the business and financial aspects of the College. He/she also provides leadership, motivation and essential resources for the Finance Department and the College including business and financial operations.
Examples of Duties
Employee is responsible for budget and fiscal management and oversight of all Financial Services functions.Responsible to participate as a member of the College's Audit and Finance Committee and provide financial reports and analysis as requested.Responsible for review and revision of the college's policies and procedures related to finance office oversight.Prepares monthly board reports, and analysis of financial data as needed.Prepares financial reports, surveys, state and federal reports as required.Respond to informational requests from stakeholders including financial institutions, accrediting agencies and professional associations. Reviews all financial materials presented to the board of trustees related to the annual audit.Responsible for the oversight of internal controls within the college.Responsible for strategic planning and coordination of work for the finance department.Responsible to monitor and review processes and procedures to comply with all regulator requirements and changes.Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all the College’s financial transactions. Implement and maintain a strong internal control system. Implement systems of cash flow management and reporting, which includes monitoring and providing for institutional cash needs. Plan, prepare and supervise the annual and A-133 audits of the College’s financial statements. Support financial reporting and analysis for other departments of the College, as needed. Leads in the development and preparation of the college budget, working collaboratively with the President, EVP/COO/CFO, and other staff members.Oversee financial, business and administrative compliance with applicable state, federal, county and College statutes, guidelines, and policies. Ensure that the financial accounting and reporting system conforms to same, as well as to the GASB audit guide and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Audit Guide for Colleges and Universities. Monitors the effectiveness of how practices and procedures limit the risk of processing and reporting errors, limit the risk of fraud, protect College assets, and limit the risk of noncompliance with legal requirements and regulations over administrative functions.Serves as Assistant Treasurer of the Rowan College at Gloucester County Foundation, a non-voting Board Member. Employee is responsible to review the accounting and oversee the audit and cash management functions of the Foundation.Assures that all full-time finance employees receive regular and formal job performance feedback as well as opportunities for professional growth.Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or finance or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired. Master’s degree and certification preferred.Five years’ experience as a senior fiscal administrative officer, 7 to 10 years of management-level responsibility, or an equivalent combination of both, preferably in an institution of higher educationCPA license in the State of New Jersey including obtaining the necessary continued professional education credits required to maintain an active license preferred.Strong interpersonal and communications skills, including writing and speakingKnowledge of and skills in workplace computer applications, computer administrative systems, and other applicable information technology enterprisesMinimum Number of Years Experience Required: 7Ability to coordinate with other areas of the college and external agencies to perform dutiesAbility to interview, hire, train, direct, evaluate, discipline and provide supervisory support to subordinatesAbility to analyze accounting and administrative systems to ensure accuracy and recommend and initiate modifications if necessaryPerforms all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperityIf certain conditions exist, this position requires you to have access to personal technological equipment and capabilities to perform your duties.Supplemental Information
