Campbell's is seeking an experienced and dynamic senior leader to head its U.S. benefits function. The Associate Vice President is responsible for strategy, design, delivery and team leadership for U.S. benefits. Program scope includes health and welfare, retirement, time off, disability, life and accident insurance, and all other voluntary and well-being benefits available to U.S. employees. This role is accountable to lead and drive how we deliver our benefit programs in an operationally effective, financially prudent, legally compliant, competitive, and innovative way. Reporting to the SVP of Total Rewards, the role serves as a member of the Total Rewards Leadership Team and plays a pivotal role in aligning the benefits strategy with our organizational strategy, values and culture.
Principal Accountabilities include:
Oversee the design, strategy, development, implementation, and communication of all North America benefits programs, including health, welfare, retirement, and well-being programs; work closely with consultants to evaluate and benchmark our benefits programs to ensure they are competitive and equitable.
  • Lead benefits strategy committee meetings and develop a multi-year roadmap for future benefits strategy in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop meaningful analysis of Benefits claims, reports, renewals and other data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and make recommendations for improvement and renewal/RFP recommendations.
  • Manage all vendor, broker and consultant relationships, including renewals, contracting, and service level agreements.
  • Oversee all employee communications with regard to benefits programs, driving our employee engagement agenda.
  • Develop and execute on a wellness/health strategy in areas of physical, financial, emotional and social health
  • Lead and drive all phases of Benefits change management plans, including RFPs, implementations, program launches or closures, communications, annual and special enrollments, and other initiatives.
  • Prepare for and negotiate benefits with collectively bargained (union) employees and the class retiree advisory committee.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including the head of Total Rewards Operations, legal counsel, broker and consultants, finance, HR, and business partners.
  • Oversee administration of all post-employment benefit plans, including pre-65 and Medicare-eligible retiree medical plans, RMAs, HRAs, and pension plans.
  • Ensure that all our benefits programs comply with relevant local, state, and federal rules and regulations; oversee containment and management of Benefits-related risks.
  • Manage 2-4 direct reports (all exempt benefit professionals); with indirect development and mentorship responsibilities for the broader total rewards team.
  • Participate and lead ad-hoc projects related benefits and other cross-functional initiatives including but not limited to mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 10 years of Benefits-related management experience in a complex, large, public company environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of and experience with U.S. benefits practices and principles, trends, laws and regulations, along with working knowledge of same for Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, collaborate and drive consensus across functional teams and with stakeholders in all levels of an organization.
  • Strong program and vendor performance management, cost-benefit analysis and budget management experience.
  • High tolerance for change; ability to adapt quickly and drive change through the organization.
  • Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Fact and analytically driven, with sound general management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to package and present complex analyses and recommendations clearly.
  • Strong business acumen, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong initiative and self-management.
  • Stable team management skills to inspire and direct a team to successful outcomes.
  • Experience working in a hybrid work environment and managing remote team members is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:
The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$175,900-$293,000
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
