The Associate Risk Analyst is responsible for working as part of the Wholesale Risk Management team and overseeing market risks associated with RWE Clean Energy Wholesale Services. Specific activities will include transaction confirmations, daily MTM, daily transaction tracking for CFTC Reporting, and credit exposure monitoring.
Perform various analyses on the company's portfolio, including mark-to-market valuations, stress testing, and forward curve validation. Evaluate proposed hedging strategies, policies, and procedures. Monitor and maintain the NYISO credit obligations for NYISO, PJM, and ISO-NE. Assist other team members in backing up their responsibilities related to commodity operational functions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide backup to the Commodity Operations team related to daily transaction confirmations
- Perform daily broker analysis to confirm margin excess/call
- Assure required transactions are reported to the Swap Depository on a timely basis
- Perform monthly data reconciliation between Allegro (Risk Trade System) and the Swap Depository
- Perform analyses of market pricing in the company's energy supply locations
- Analyze current and proposed hedging strategies to assess risk
- Track ISO credit requirements and maintain appropriate levels of financial security
- Analyses of potential new hedges for the Wholesale Energy Services group related to their Energy Management clients
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, or related major)
- Minimum 1-3 years of relevant work in the energy industry or related field
- Forecasting, energy industry research, and team building are highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage both internal and external customer relationships
- Strong understanding of energy commodity markets (physical and financial)
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds
- Responds well to direction, is easily challenged and developed, and is coachable

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York City is $70,000.00-$106,000.00. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
