Job description

The Associate Production Control Planner is responsible for the day-to-day production control tasks to create integrated production schedules that meet customer requirements. This role is responsible for executing, tracking, and expediting of work items; including material availability, change order documentation, and logical transactions within an SAP/MRP environment.  

Main Responsibilities:

  • The Associate Planner assists in the administration of one or more planning areas (First Time Build, Fast Track Production, OSM Systems, Abatements Systems, Kits, Spares).
  • Assists the Production Control Planner by handling many day-to-day tasks.
  • May audit line-side (kanban managed) materails
  • Converts, releases, and prints work orders as necessary
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Locates and expedites materials needed in the production cell.
  • Resolves problems utilizing acquired knowledge & analytical abilities.
  • Notifies stakeholders of any late deliveries or missing materails and works with planners on an appropriate recovery plan.
  • Conducts material planning information integrity and implementation to MRP/SAP system.
  • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance while working collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Respectfully takes direction from the supervisor/ manager.

Education level:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business, industrial engineering, or similar discipline.
  • Experience may be considered in lieu of degree

Relevant Previous experience:

  • This is an entry-level planning position, apptitude for software is essential.
  • Prior assembly or manufacturing experience is beneficial

Knowledge areas/Skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of ERP Systems, MRP processes, and Lean Manufacturing theories.
  • APICS/ASCM training is beneficial.
  • CPIM prefered.

Other requirements:

  • Desire to learn and grow in a production/materails planning role.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and flexible.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Office - PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to evaluate and analyze data to gauge its importance when making decisions.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP (preferably SAP) with an understanding of discrete manufacturing, bills of material, product life-cycle management, and supply chain operations.
  • Self-starter and effective time manager. Ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
