ABOUT THE POSITION
The Associate Executive Director, CMO Services at Urban Dove is a leadership position responsible for providing operational oversight for both direct service programs and back office support services to a portfolio of charter schools. Reporting to the Executive Director and working alongside the Associate Executive Director of School Services (AEDSS), this position ensures the successful implementation of the CMO's mission.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Urban Dove Team Charter School (UD Team) is a distinctive network of sports-based high schools catering to over-aged, under-credited youth. We fuse a robust academic curriculum with sports-based youth development, ensuring our graduates receive a diploma, a stepping stone for higher education, and essential job skills.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the ED and AEDSS to develop and implement the CMO's strategic vision, goals, and policies.
- Provide leadership and guidance to CMO staff ensuring alignment with the CMO's mission and educational objectives.
- Provide direct supervision to the CMO team of Directors - Finance & Administration, HR/Talent, Development & Communication and Operations.
- Work closely with the AEDSS to ensure academic success, effective administration, and compliance with charter agreements and educational standards.
- Oversee all legal, governance and administrative responsibilities as they relate to the operation of the CMO and the charter schools.
- Collaborate with the finance team to develop and manage the CMO and school budgets, including all reporting to government entities, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Monitor financial performance of the CMO and each school, identify financial challenges, and implement corrective actions.
- In collaboration with the Director of Finance, regularly review and adjust the Fiscal Policies and Procedures as needed.
- Support school leaders in budget development and financial management.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with school leaders, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Seek out and explore potential collaborations and partnerships to enhance educational programs and resources.
- Represent the CMO in external forums and build positive relationships with community organizations.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to CMO staff.
- Participate in the recruitment, training, and professional development of school leaders and staff.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and reporting requirements for charter schools.
- Prepare and submit regular reports to the Board of Directors and relevant educational authorities.
- Advocate for the CMO's mission and goals in the broader educational community.
- Represent the CMO in public forums, conferences, and meetings.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, educational leadership, non-profit management or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in nonprofit, 5 of which were in a senior management or leadership position - education-related nonprofit experience a plus.
- Experience managing a diverse staff of 10+ employees
- Strong understanding of non-profit operations, fundraising, and program management.
- Strong understanding and experience overseeing nonprofit financial operations
- Strong fundraising experience, both in foundation grants and events
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to think strategically and contribute to the overall vision of the CMO.
