What You Will Do:
The Guidehouse Energy, Sustainability, & Infrastructure segment is a go-to partner for leaders creating sustainable, resilient communities and infrastructure, serving as trusted advisors to utilities and energy companies, large corporations, investors, NGOs, and the public sector. We are seeking an individual to join our South Market Energy Providers Team as an Associate Director to support the growth of our ES&I practice. Your work will focus on supporting utility clients operating in the South, Mid-Atlantic, and Central region of the US as they navigate the complex Energy Transformation journey.
We assist our clients by:

• Engaging with potential clients to understand their key ESG and decarbonization challenges and needs
• Defining a compelling value proposition aligned with our client's needs
• Supporting the development of client sales opportunities
• Building deep trusted advisor relationships with key utility client stakeholders
• Collaborating cross-practice to build compelling new solution offerings that resonate with our clients
• Working in concert with account leaders, solutions teams, and other team members to sell and deliver solutions and strategies

We assist our team by:

• Project managing multiple and/or more complex consulting engagements, completing engagements at or above targeted profitability through effective management of project scope, client expectations, and team productivity
• Generating new and unique ideas and using solid judgment to determine which ideas will have the greatest likelihood of success
• Being an effective part of the local team while engaging with colleagues across Guidehouse's ES&I segment
• Playing a key role in the execution of innovative solutions and application of technical knowledge and best practices
• Mentoring and managing junior staff

Our team members manage their own tasks, schedules, internal / external networks, and project teams carrying out business and technical analyses to deliver high quality client work. Our consultants must demonstrate considerable business acumen and focus on maximizing client value.
What You Will Need:

• Due to the nature of contracts, US Citizenship restrictions apply
• Bachelor's degree
• 7+ years of professional work experience with utility consulting organizations, professional consulting services in the Utilities industry, strategy consulting within Utilities, or Management Consulting for Energy/Utilities companies in the United States. NOTE: Internships, co-ops, academic course work, and fellowships are not counted towards years of experience.
• Knowledge and experience in energy efficiency, sustainability, decarbonization strategy and implementation
• Demonstrated experience positioning and delivering consulting and/or business solutions
• Demonstrated experience managing large, complex projects and teams
• Ability to extract insights and meaning from qualitative and quantitative information and translate into strategic advice for clients
• Strong personal network and client relationship skills
• Business case or proposal writing experience including budget development and managing proposal timeline with multiple subject matter experts providing input
• Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills
• A critical thinker with a strong eye for detail and creative problem solving
• A team player who demonstrates the willingness and ability to work effectively in diverse teams and collaborate with colleagues at all levels
• Proven track record managing complex projects and delivering high-quality outputs
• Ability to travel as needed
• Must currently reside in the South or Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States
• The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities as described
