TheArab-American Family Support Center (AAFSC) is a non-profit, non-sectarianorganization established in 1994 to provide culturally and linguisticallycompetent, trauma-informed social services. Our mission is to empowerimmigrants and refugees with the tools they need to successfully acclimate tothe world around them and become active participants in their communities.While our doors are open to all, AAFSC has developed cultural and linguisticexpertise in serving members of NYC's Arab, Middle Eastern, North African,Muslim, and South Asian (AMENAMSA) immigrant and refugee communities. AAFSCpromotes mental and physical well-being and community power. We ensure familiesare knowledgeable about their rights and equipped to participate in civicsociety with confidence and security. We help prevent child abuse, and work toend domestic- and gender-based violence. We provide the tools for learners ofevery age to succeed. Finally, we help lift up the voices and needs ofunder-represented communities and champion gender-, racial-, restorative-, andimmigrant justice.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Associate Director of Training &Development is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, andevaluating training programs designed for child welfare preventive teammembers. A successful person in this role will have experience designingengaging and effective training for adult learners. They will have strongpresentation skills and can provide effective coaching to allpreventive roles. A commitment to immigrant, refugee, and low-incomecommunities is essential for this role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
TeamMember Capacity Building & Organizational Learning (CBOL)
Orient new hires to the organization's policies/procedures and programs throughnew team member orientation.
Collaborate with Human Resources, Program Leads, and Supervisors toensure appropriate onboarding of all new hires.
Identify training needs of AAFSC staff by evaluating gaps, needs,strengths, and weaknesses at the individual, programmatic, and organizationallevels. Use these findings to drive training development and implementation.
Assess training effectiveness to ensure the incorporation of new skills and techniques into team members' day-to-day work.
Conduct refreshers on policies, procedures, job-related tools, technology and platforms, and other related items.
Coordinate with Program Directors and Supervisors to provide coaching and guidance regarding training requirements and credits for new hires and existing staff members.
Meet with individual preventive team members quarterly to discuss training progress and ensure completion of ACS training requirements.
Complete SBC training coach certification and conduct SBC training and refreshers.
Programmatic& Organizational CBOL
Translate program requirements into training that will position team members for success.
Assess fidelity and performance of Training program and propose strategies to enhance its quality, depth, and/or breadth.
Actively seek external partners to create and host training to increase programmatic learning.
Use our learning management system (currently TalentLMS) to record and analyze training completion; build reports for internal and external use.
Administration
Oversee instructional design, curriculum writing, and training material development.
Help register staff for training; maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all training activities.
Manage the creation of AAFSC's internal and external training calendars.
Coordinate with the ACS Workforce Institute to track training and request training credit for training completed internally and in partnership with other partners.
Develop and share periodic training progress reports with the leadership team at AAFSC.
Develop or oversee the production of Training handouts, instructional materials, aids, and manuals.
BACKGROUNDAND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience providing in-person training.
Knowledgeable about coaching staff to improve performance and skilled in delivering adult training programs.
Able to present complex information to a variety of audiences.
Prior experience utilizing learning management software, preferablyTalentLMS.
Able to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinaryteam in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong aptitude and ability with Office 365 and technology more broadly.
Excellent organizational, time-management, follow-up, and administrativeskills with a strong attention to detail.
Experience working with child welfare preventive programs is a plus.
Job contingent on a pre-employment background check and fingerprintclearance.
