About the SC Johnson College of BusinessThe Cornell SC Johnson College of Business comprises the university's three accredited business schools: The Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration, the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, and the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. This past year, the eight specialized business master's programs attracted approximately 4000 applications, yielding approximately 500 students to Cornell. This admissions team is composed of energetic, collaborative, and knowledgeable individuals who are passionate about finding top-tier applicants, are united through a shared vision to elevate the status of our programs and are committed to Cornell's core values of diversity and inclusion as essential for individual and organizational success.Enrollment representatives within Cornell's colleges, schools, and units regularly collaborate and partner with the Enrollment Division to accomplish the University's enrollment goals. Cornell admissions representatives across its colleges share a mission to provide information to prospective students so that any person can find instruction in any study, supporting strategic enrollment goals defined by the institution

This Position:


Reporting to the Executive Director of Enrollment Management (EDEM), the Associate Director provides leadership and strategic planning for SC Johnson CollegeGraduate Admissions with the goal of enrolling high-quality students and achieving enrollment goals in alignment with university, college policies, priorities, and timelines.


As the Associate Director of Graduate Admissions, you will manage day-to-day admissions operations supporting the specialized master's programs within the college, including recruitment, selection, notification, and yield activities, to reach enrollment targets for class size and composition. You will not only be a leader but also a team player, managing three professional staff members including two assistant directors (exempt), and an application/administrative processing assistant (non-exempt). Additionally, the Associate Director manages the hiring and oversight of seasonal outside readers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with college partners (EDEM, MarCom, faculty program directors and college administration) in annual market planning and work directly with faculty program directors in the selection of applicants, and in some cases coordinate the participation of faculty selection committees.
  • In collaboration with graduate financial aid administrators, oversee the strategic use of a $1,000,000+ scholarship budget to yield high-ability admitted applicants.
  • Enhance the operations and technologies for SC Johnson College of Business Graduate Admissions and provide relevant Graduate Admissions data and corresponding analysis for the college.
  • Serve as a key member of the SC Johnson College of Business enrollment team, which works in close partnership with SC Johnson College of Business student services and academic departments within the college to achieve college goals and advance college and program priorities.
  • Outside of the college, serve as lead liaison to the Cornell Graduate School on issues of policy, precedent, shared technical platforms, eligibility, and visa compliance (with Office of Global Learning) for admitted international students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated skill in understanding of cultural differences.
  • Bachelor's degree with 5 to 7 years relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with writing (across multiple platforms) and speaking (including presentations). Ability to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of stakeholders; prospective master's applicants, faculty, alumni, administration.
  • Analytical thinker; problem solver.Sound judgement, confidentiality, and discretion.
  • Collaborative, team oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and service orientation.
  • Aptitude for communications-related technology including CRM, social media, virtual presentation software, etc. Also, strong Excel skills, Word processing, databases.
  • High energy, initiative, enthusiasm. Works independently.
  • Organized; ability to plan and work per a schedule/calendar, handle multiple tasks, and complete tasks within time constraints.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, and to organize travel. Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in marketing and communications or university admissions.
  • Master's degree.
  • Second language fluency (including writing and speaking).
  • Experience supervising others.
  • Experience with CRM and application management systems (e.g. CollegeNet, Slate, Sales Force, PeopleSoft).

This position is a full-time position based in Ithaca, New York and is eligible for benefits. The position may allow for the flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week. The hybrid schedule will be determined at the time of hire. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke, or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.
