Position Summary
The Associate Director of Admissions, located in Long Island, NY will manage portions of the recruitment and admissions functions of the University. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation of effective recruitment and marketing strategies for all special populations that they oversee. The position will effectively identify viable market segments and promote the University's mission and vision to prospective students and external entities through communications, activities and events. This position will be charged to develop trusting relationships with prospective students, key external constituents, and key external personnel including but not limited to High Schools and Community Colleges.
This position is remotely based and the incumbent must live in the Long Island area.

Major Responsibilities
  • Develop trusting relationships with prospective students, key external constituents, and key external personnel.
  • Manage recruitment staff including; assignment of recruitment territories, monitoring of counselors recruitment effectiveness and providing feedback and adjustments as needed, budget oversight for recruitment, delegating projects, and approving expenses, recruitment plans, etc. All while carrying out the recruitment plan for this team.
  • Develop Admissions recruitment team through professional development and guide the team in a positive direction.
  • Direct and provide effective and superior customer service to students, families and school counselors.
  • Represent the University at college fairs, high school visits, and other recruitment and yield events.
  • Assist with the development of the comprehensive student recruitment plan and strategy.
  • Evaluate applicants for admission
  • Conduct Admissions and Financial Aid presentations as directed.
  • Maintain effective interpersonal and departmental communications to assist in the recruitment of new students. Work specifically with Student Financial Services to assist students and their families with the financial aid application process.
  • Provide exemplary customer service and follow-up.
  • Ability to communicate effectively. Excellent writing and oral skills are essential.
  • Provide regular reports to management on the status of recruitment and the current enrollment of each segment of recruitment and enrollment responsibility.
  • Overnight travel is required.
  • Documentation of all contacts in CRM is required.
  • Take an active role in the development of the department's strategic and operational plans as required by department leadership. Work closely with department supervisor to develop and implement operational goals that support departmental success.
  • Responsible for working with supervisor and other team members to achieve successful results on all established individual and departmental goals and key performance indicators.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

Driving Responsibilities
Possession of a valid U.S. driver's license. License must meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria. Must maintain a clean driving record as defined by the University's insurance carrier guidelines.

This position may supervise one or more of the following: Admission Counselor(s), Assistant Director(s) of Admission, Senior Assistant Director(s) of Admission.
Education & Experience Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
• Three years of Admissions recruitment or related experience needed.
• Supervisory experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Ellucian/SCT Banner or similar student information system preferred.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively. Excellent writing and oral communication skills are essential.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative professional relationships.
