Advertised Job Summary
The College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for the inaugural position of Associate Director for Assessment. Reporting to the Vice Dean, this position will establish an infrastructure whereby our commitment to Inclusive Excellence is fully integrated into our assessment and evaluation practices.
Working collaboratively with the Vice Dean, college leaders, and campus stakeholders, the Associate Director for Assessment will lead the development and implementation of new and ongoing assessment and evaluation initiatives. The position will work in close partnership with the Office for Institutional Research, Assessment and Analytics ( OIRAA), as well as key CAS offices such as Human Resources, Communications, External Relations, Undergraduate Studies, and other campus partners to gather climate and culture related data for analysis and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree and three years of work experience. An equivalency may include a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree and 7 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of one year experience in higher education assessment or evaluation, including developing assessment/evaluation plans, conducting focus groups, administering surveys, and managing/analyzing complex data sets.
- Experience working with multi-cultural groups.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD preferred.
- Completion of employee climate and satisfaction certificates or courses.
- Knowledge and experience using and creating Tableau Dashboards.
- Capable of developing reports using data visualization techniques for both academic and lay audiences.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in both formal and informal presentations, and problem-solving situations.
- Experience with survey design and analysis.
- Ability to identify key performance metrics and develop execution plans around them.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages, high level of expertise with Excel, as well as statistical software (SPSS, SAS, R+, etc.).
- Experience managing people and data within cross-functional areas.
- Experience delivering trainings across skill-levels.
- Relationship-building skills across multiple layers and fields.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines, multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Capable of troubleshooting problems as they arise in an effective and rational manner.
Job Duty
Assessment Development and Report Dissemination: Provide leadership and expertise in designing and implementing new and ongoing assessment and evaluation initiatives for the College. Specifically, developing original assessments for the climate and culture audit, constituent labor realities project, and collegiate climate surveys. Work in close partnership with the Office of Institutional Research, Assessment and Analytics ( OIRAA), the CAS Director of Assessment and Online Learning, as well as other key CAS offices such as Human Resources, Communications, External Relations, and other campus constituents to gather climate and culture related data for analysis and reporting.

Data Collection and Management: Request, verify and manage annual demographic, recruitment and retention data to inform programmatic and policy related efforts. Establish data management system for tracking, benchmarking, forecasting, sharing and presenting data to various audiences. In partnership with the Vice Dean, create systems to assist academic units in charting faculty and staff recruitment plans and tracking trends.

Data Stewardship: Provide day to day management of data requests and ensure data quality control and assurance is grounded in a framework of equity and inclusive excellence. Lead the development, maintenance and dissemination of surveys for analyses and reporting to optimize systems and inform strategic planning decisions.

Consultation: Advise academic culture committees on the development, dissemination and reporting of related survey data addressing climate, recruitment or retention. Serve as a subcommittee co-chair for designated CAS committee to support collegiate level efforts.

Training & Support: Provide guidance and training to designated team members in the development and organization of unit-wide assessments and evaluation efforts. Deliver formal training to academic unit culture committees, unit leaders, or other relevant committees to increase skillful and effective assessment practices.

Budget Management: Support the Vice Dean and the Executive Assistant to the Vice Dean by maintaining accurate financial records for associated assessment initiatives.
