Associate Director - Environmental Health/Safety Services
Responsibilities
Leadership of the group responsible for all aspects of key safety and security systems at Lilly Indiana sites and global security systems. The group provides services and systems that protect people and facilities supporting our business partners' right to operate. Systems include fire sprinkler and other fire suppression systems, fire alarm, access control and intrusion detection, camera and recording systems used by security personnel, help alarms, public address, and emergency phone systems. This position is also responsible for the deployment and life cycle management of Genetec Security Center to provide a shared physical access control platform globally.
This position is responsible for assuring that these systems supported are designed, installed, validated, and maintained in compliance with Lilly, local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. This position evaluates conflicting requirements and ensures solutions are right-sized for the business, including the assessment of resources constraints and competing business partner priorities.
Organizational Leadership

  • Ensure that the right people are in critical roles with the support they need. Communicate expectations clearly.
  • Ensure that a framework for organizational success and continual improvement is in place, maintained, and nurtured. Measure key compliance activities.

Service Delivery
  • Ensure key safety and security services are available. Manage outages with a proper balance of customer interruption, risk, cost, and external/internal requirements.
  • Protect people and facilities through flawless operation of these critical systems when called upon. Continually improve the quality of our services and provide this at good value to the business.
  • Maintain financial and technical linkages with our customers using formal (eg service level agreements, meetings) and informal means.
  • Maintain and recapitalize systems in a planned and orderly way so other groups can focus on their business with a minimum of disruption by our activities.

Continuous Improvement and Vision
  • Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the business. Created a shared vision for new approaches to old problems, challenge the status quo.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, including experience with process automation, engineering, and project management.
  • Previous leadership experience (with direct reports)

Additional Skills/ Preferences
  • Information Technology Experience (multiple programming languages, relational database design and programming, IP networks, information security)
  • Experience with software applications such as GMARS (Maximo), ServiceNow, CyberArk, Workday, GECMS, Trackwise, Visual Studio .NET, SQL Server, as well as all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working with infrastructure teams (server, database, network).
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to work as a member of cross functional business teams and systems teams.

Additional Information
  • The fire sprinkler system requires a good sense of piping systems, hydraulics, pumps, and instrumentation.
  • This organization touches every business group and can have significant impact on their capital and expense budgets. Planning, communication and collaboration with impacted customer groups are key responsibilities of this position.
  • This position is based in Indianapolis, IN and requires onsite presence the majority of the time. This is not a fully remote position.
