POSITION OVERVIEW

The Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships is a key member of the Development Department, with responsibility for a portfolio of regional and national corporate donors and partners. The Associate Director identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a growing portfolio of corporate donors to meet annual fundraising goals. In addition to managing current donor relationships, a strong emphasis will be on prospecting and cultivating new corporate donors to grow corporate fundraising revenue and build the corporate pipeline. The organization is in year 2 of a $120M Growth Capital Campaign to fund the current 5-year Strategic Plan and building a robust and sustainable corporate fundraising base is an important component of meeting campaign goals.

 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a growth environment where uncovering new opportunities for partnership is crucial. Superb relationship management and communication skills both externally and internally are a must, demonstrating emotional acuity and the ability to listen to, understand, and meaningfully engage donors and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and with diverse perspectives. Needs to be comfortable navigating across time zones and geographies, working both independently and in collaboration within and across teams, while exemplifying Jumpstarts values of community, learning, social justice, joy, and inclusive leadership.

 

The position reports to the National Director of Corporate Partnerships and works collaboratively with other members of the Development Department, as well as with other teams across the organization.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of major corporate donors, both locally and nationally, to secure, steward, and grow partnerships to meet annual fundraising goals.

  • Working with the National Director, Corporate Partnerships, design a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising plan to garner support from corporations, and help set strategy and goals for the team.

  • Identify, develop approach, and cultivate corporate prospects with the goal of soliciting gifts and submitting funding proposals, including significant multi-year commitments for a $120M Growth Capital Campaign. Develop cultivation and stewardship plan for donors to ensure they are informed on impact, stay connected to the cause, and are motivated to maintain and increase support.

  • Actively prospect on an ongoing basis to create short-term and long-term lists of potential funders in key markets and nationally.

  • Work collaboratively with the MarCom team and Director of Impact Initiatives on the fundraising strategy for the annual Read for the Record campaign Jumpstarts global literacy campaign that engages over 2 million participants each year. Participate as a member of the RFTR project leads group.

  • Support strategies and leverage events such as Read for the Record and Growth Capital Campaign events, and other corporate engagement, donor cultivation, and acquisition events to engage corporate funders and deliver on corporate partnership benefits

  • In collaboration with National Directors, support efforts with Local Advisory Board members in each market to identify opportunities and build greater relationships with corporate funders. Serve as an additional support and relationship manager for all LAB leads where increased corporate engagement is possible.

  • Work collaboratively across Jumpstarts departments (Content, Finance, Program, etc.) and the development operations team to gather and update information for corporate grants and reports, modeling mutual respect and enhancing a Culture of Advancement.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing, Communications and Brand team to advance marketing efforts with corporate funders, including design/preparation of print materials and collateral, and planning and implementation of engagement events

  • Maintain the electronic database (Salesforce) with all account activity, from prospecting through stewardship.

  • Support other duties as assigned by National Director, Corporate Partnerships.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • At least 5 years of successful experience in development with corporate funders or equivalent experience in corporate sales or related field
  • Demonstrated success identifying, cultivating, securing, and growing a network of corporate donors, with evidence of securing gifts of $100,000 and greater
  • Creative and compelling communication skills
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to balance multiple projects, while performing at a high level in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent relationship building skills; ability to personally connect with and engage diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders
  • Comfort with establishing and stewarding relationships, in-person, over the phone, and via email
  • Commitment to Jumpstarts mission and core values of joy, learning, community, social justice and inclusive leadership
  • Proficiency with CRM (customer relationship management) software, as well as with MS Word, and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and quality presentation skills
  • Flexible work approach and the ability to act with sensitivity and discretion while handling confidential information
  • On-going commitment and interest in social justice or diversity, equity and inclusion work
  • Experience and comfort working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities
  • Ability to work independently and as a self-starter
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various locations as necessary for completion of job duties

 

Preferred or Ideal

  • Experience in supporting successful fundraising events
