Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced associate with a background in medical malpractice to join our team. The ideal candidate must possess exceptional writing capabilities and be responsible for assisting in all aspects of medical malpractice cases.Key Responsibilities:
- Draft legal documents.
- Prepare demand packages.
- Draft notices of intent to file medical malpractice claims.
- Prepare complaints for filing.
- Draft discovery requests and prepare responses to discovery.
- Write motions and briefs for court proceedings.
- Respond to opposing motions and briefs with persuasive arguments.
- Draft facilitation and/or case evaluation summaries
- Prepare witnesses for deposition, defend depositions, and conduct depositions.
- Locate and communicate with medical experts to obtain expert opinions and facilitate expert reviews.
- Summarize complex medical records for use in legal proceedings.
- Conduct legal research.
- Meet strict deadlines and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation.
- Provide comprehensive litigation support to partners by assisting with any additional tasks as requested, ensuring smooth workflow and effective case management.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Michigan.
- 3+ years of experience practicing law with a focus on medical malpractice preferred.
- Strong legal writing and research skills.
- Experience drafting legal documents, including demand letters, notices of intent, complaints, discovery requests and responses, summaries, motions, and briefs.
- Proficiency in summarizing complex medical records.
- Ability to work independently and manage caseload effectively.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
