Position Description Summary:
The Industry Professor of Management & Sport Management is a full-time, specialized contract faculty position beginning as early as Fall 2024.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be required to teach 18 credits (six-course teaching load) each academic year using their domain expertise in the fields of facility management, social, digital, and traditional media and communication, event management, and collegiate athletics including Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). The selected candidate will also need to support advising undergrad, master's and graduate certificate students in their academic field.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or terminal degree in a relevant field (e.g., JD) or a masters degree and a minimum of ten years of sport industry experience. Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years of teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels with both on-campus and online delivery formats. Applicants must have a teaching record that demonstrates excellence and a commitment to student advising and service. Applicants must demonstrate active engagement in NIL activities. Prior experience with an agency, as a publicist, or working with various forms of media, including social media, print, and broadcast is required.
Rank is commensurate with the qualifications.

The George Washington University. School of Business (GWSB) - Department of Management - supports research and teaching related to the business of sport at the undergraduate and graduate level including the Master of Science in Sport Management, BBA and MBA Sport Management concentrations, and a non-degree certificate in Sport Philanthropy. GWSB has offered Sport Management since 1991 and, in addition to accreditation by AACSB, the masters program is ranked in the top five in the world by Sport Business International. As one of the oldest and most prestigious Sport Management programs globally, it is recognized for the integrated theoretical and practical approach to Sport Management education and its signature experiential learning programs including Olympic and World Cup experiences. The university also has a strong Sport Business Student Association that hosts the annual Sport, Industry Networking and Career (SINC) conference and many other events.
The Department of Management includes 20 full-time tenured, tenure-track and special service faculty who are committed to the excellence of teaching using innovative course delivery modes and pedagogical methods, including online and experiential learning experiences. Faculty teaching excellence is evidenced by the numerous outstanding teaching awards recognized by GW School of Business at the doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate levels.
