The Warrior Community seeks a tenure-track faculty member for the College of Business. The Assistant/Associate Professor of Sport Management will be responsible for (a) developing and teaching courses in Sport Management (b) mentoring and advising students and (c) collaborating with faculty colleagues to achieve the Institution’s Strategic Plan. Excellence in teaching is valued at the highest level, and evidence of commitment to applied learning is required. The preferred candidate will work closely with faculty and colleagues to teach courses in Sport Management and other related courses to achieve the Institution’s Strategic Plan, advise students and foster relationships with students, work with a program advisory board, develop active student leadership, and supervise practicum and internship experiences for program majors. The position includes teaching four courses per semester assigned by the Dean and holding eight office hours per week.
This is a tenure-track, 9-month position teaching in face-to-face delivery. Additional responsibilities include professional development, student development, and service to the College of Business. Participation in student recruiting and retention initiatives and supporting the mission, vision, and strategic plan of Indiana Institute of Technology are expected. Availability over the summer months is required. The preferred candidate will work closely with other College of Business programs. This faculty position reports to the Dean of the College of Business.
A doctorate in Sport Management/Sport Studies/Athletic Administration or a closely related discipline is required. ABD will be considered with a completion date. College-level teaching experience is required.
Demonstration of the ability to work with a diverse student population and of developing effective relationships with students that prepare students for academic and career success are necessary. Applicants should be able to use technology effectively in all aspects of their work, including teaching. Experience working with collegiate, professional, or semi-professional sports organizations is an asset.
