The primary responsibility for this position is teaching courses in the Exercise Science curriculum. Initial course taught may include: Exercise Evaluation & Prescription, Senior Seminar, Biomechanics, and Biostatistics. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills to work across the disciplines of exercise science, health, related areas with students, other faculty, and administrators. They must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. They must have analytical skills for program evaluation and continuous improvement assessment. The candidate must also have the ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, mentor, and evaluate students in a highly personalized environment, modeling Christian faith and practice.
- Maintain and develop assigned courses in the undergraduate/graduate Kinesiology curriculum.
- Monitor the academic progress and advise undergraduate students
- Teach undergraduate courses in Exercise Science and related fields
- Participate in professional development and research activities in order to remain academically current and remain aware of relevancy in the professional community
- Serve on University or College committees as needed
- Teach and help manage PE general education courses as needed
- Assist with other duties as assigned including but not limited to: supervising Kinesiology students in Interprofessional Education, coordinating service learning, etc.
- Assist with maintaining degree accreditation(s). Industry standard certification(s) preferred (ACSM, NSCA)
American College of Sports Medicine Certification-either Exercise Physiologist OR Clinical Exercise Physiologist preferred.
A DPT degree is desirable.
Experience
Preferred- A demonstrated record of college teaching experience is highly desirable.
Education
Required- Doctorate or better in Exercise Science or related field
