Assistant or Associate Professor of Counselor Education
The Department of Counseling and Human Services at Canisius University invites applications for two tenure-track positions in a CACREP accredited Master's Degree Program to begin in August of 2024. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must possess a Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program or be eligible and obtain the doctorate degree within one year from the date of hire. The tenure-track positions are for "core" faculty members with a primary focus in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

The Department of Counseling and Human Services, housed in the School of Education and Human Services, offers Master's degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. There are approximately 110 full- and part-time students in the two programs and five core faculty members. The program is currently delivered in an in-person and hybrid format. Tenure-track faculty members have a 3-course per semester teaching load, are expected to participate in research and scholarly activities, provide academic advisement to students, and engage in service to the department, university, and community.
We seek candidates with a strong identity as a counselor, teacher and scholar with a record of active membership/engagement in counseling organizations. Knowledge of CACREP standards and accreditation requirements is highly desirable. Candidates are expected to have the ability to teach courses in traditional in-person and online modalities as the program is considering moving further into online and hybrid delivery modalities.
The successful candidate may fill one or more of the following needs of the department:
- Expertise and experience teaching courses in psychopathology, treatment planning, research methods
- Provision of clinical supervision
- general program advisement and advisement for the Bridge Program (program for License eligibility for those with a related degree)
- acting as liaison for Clinical Mental Health Scholarships
- participation in the candidate recruitment and selection process
- assumption of the role of Coordinator of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: between $58,000.00 and $72,000.00 annually
Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate's actual base pay will be based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including experience. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.

A retirement plan is available with University contribution after one full year of employment. Tuition benefits are also available for full time faculty and their qualified dependents.
