What You'll Do
The Principal Financial Group is seeking an Assistant Vice President, TPA Customer Care. The AVP has overall responsibility for the Customer Care strategies, retention, ongoing value creation, and management of relationships with our Third-Party Administrators. This crucial leadership role sets the overall T.P.A. Customer Care strategies in partnership with Sales Leadership and Product.
  • Partner with key business partners to support T.P.A. growth strategy, planning, and execution. Work closely with internal and external business partners. Ensure TPA Customer Care value proposition, differentiated offering, and services are incorporated into our story and key messages to the market. Work closely with Sales and Product to ensure TPA needs are appropriately represented for priority discussions with senior leadership.
  • Leadership and talent management. Lead, encourage, mentor, and develop leaders and team members across the segment to advance skills, including problem solving, creativity, development of strategic business plans, negotiation, and a consultative approach, all crafted to achieve TPA, Advisor, client and business goals. Use creativity, critical thinking, and in-depth knowledge of solutions across the enterprise to develop innovative ways.
  • TPA and Client strategic oversight. Provide strategic oversight and lead develop, run, and implement a strategic service delivery plan which is passionate about continuing to increase value to the TPA and client. This plan balances the objectives of growth, expense management, retention, and profitability. Perform proactive reach outs to TPAs to deepen relationships with our largest TPA firms. Get in touch with clients when needed to help preserve relationships and retention.

Who You Are
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, and 10+ years experience within the retirement space. 5+ years specific TPA firm level experience.
  • TPA experience in Retirement along with established relationships with industry consultants and advisors.
  • Understands competitive environment, can identify industry trends and build opportunities for growing market share.
  • Must possess excellent leadership, collaboration, negotiation, organizational, problem solving, oral and written communication, sales and presentation skills.
  • Licensing required based on state/federal laws and/or company policy in accordance with current licensing policy.
  • Some travel, including overnight stays required Reporting Relationships.

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$153000 - $207000 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don't accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments
This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You'll work with your leader to determine which option may align best based on several factors.
