Position Overview:
NYCEDC's Portfolio Management Division manages 65 million square feet of real estate properties and non-traditional assets across all five boroughs of New York City including commercial and industrial real estate properties as well as transportation, critical infrastructure, and energy assets. The Portfolio Management division pursues a triple-bottom line strategy, targeting economic returns and multiple social metrics including job creation, and growing equitable neighborhoods; as well as ensuring a thoughtful approach to incorporating sustainable and resilient measures. The overall assets are divided into multiple portfolios, with a Lease Administration group that monitors and enforces standards and practices across the division. The division-wide portfolio encompasses all property types including those that are standard in the real estate industry (Retail, Mixed-Use/Commercial, Industrial, etc.) as well as the public sector and public/private (Transportation assets including Cruise, Freight/Rail, and Aviation, Retail and Market assets, Cultural assets).
The AVP, Events & Site Activations will focus on developing strategic initiatives, events, programming and unique activations across key EDC assets that will both grow incremental revenue and enhance the brand of the property and of EDC. This role will be responsible for introducing new ideas, innovations, and best practices across the portfolio of assets. This will include initiatives such as: piloting and being first-to-market with new technologies across our assets, collaborating with marketing on high revenue generating short-term event opportunities, introducing new food and beverage options and other amenities into existing tenant spaces, public art and placemaking initiatives, etc. This individual will have experience in planning and executing large scale events across various industries.
This role will develop and maintain relationships across key industry stakeholders, including but not limited to film and TV, gaming, sports, fashion, media, and music. This individual will respond to all inbound partnership inquiries and track all leads, in addition to proactively seeking new business by developing customized proposals, leading site tours, and pitching event opportunities at NYCEDC assets to potential partners.
This individual will oversee and drive the development of NYCEDC's first event and property marketing toolkit, methodically cataloguing all high revenue sites and documenting relevant information, such as: square footage, site capacity, site plans, professional photography, building history, future leasing availability, etc. This individual will also assist with competitive benchmarking across comparable sites across New York City, informing an overall pricing and revenue strategy. This role is also responsible for serving as the main point of contact with partners for short-term activations or partnership opportunities. This role will eventually build and manage a master calendar of events and activations across the NYCEDC Portfolio of assets, in addition to helping the VP of Special Projects with the forecasting and budgeting associated with all incremental special events and activations revenue.
This role will also assist the VP of Special Projects with the ongoing documentation of high priority portfolio-wide initiatives and inter-agency projects to better understand and identify potential new on-brand activations or streams of revenue. This may include business development, site identification, development of customized property marketing materials, and contract negotiations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to the development of the NYCEDC Portfolio Management and site innovation and activation strategy which includes P&L management, site identification, capital investment, property marketing material needs, project timelines, etc.
  • Establishes partnerships with community, event, key industry players, and professional partner networks to raise profile of NYCEDC's properties and facilitate the use of all vacant EDC assets.
  • Work with marketing to develop asset specific property marketing toolkit, cataloguing key assets and capturing and diligence all relevant site information, such as: square footage, site capacity, site plans, professional photography, building history, future leasing availability, etc.
  • Serve as primary liaison between NYCEDC Portfolio Management and external partners, as well as the primary liaison for other internal NYCEDC departments.
  • Manage all aspects of event contract execution, including the gathering of relevant information, permits, insurance requirements, internal and external approvals, etc. Negotiate all terms according to client specifications while adhering to internal pricing guidelines and site requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a targeted prospect list of potential partners. Own the initial outreach to relevant partners to set up introductory meetings, calls, and tours.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of all potential NYCEDC assets, including but not limited to site capacity, leasing restrictions and availability, pricing, and site history
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of competitive offerings (space, amenities technology, pricing, etc.)
  • Coordinate all activities related to planning, developing, executing, scheduling all events, including day to day management of all event responsibilities
  • Attend tradeshows and industry-related events to prospect for new business
  • Respond promptly to all new inquiries
  • Schedule flexibility including nights and weekends as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in events management, event sales, hospitality, asset management, real estate operations, management consulting or related field
  • Able to manage and launch a successful large scale event from ideation to execution
  • An independent and strategic thinker who is entrepreneurial about their work and a self starter
  • Effective communicator, Ability to adapt style as the situation requires
  • Ability to prioritize competing needs and opportunities and manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Energetic, creative, and detail-oriented project manager with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong understanding of contract negotiation as it relates to commercial leasing or events
  • Strong negotiating/commercial/entrepreneurial skills
  • Excellent customer service attitude
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office
  • New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire

Salary Range
$100,000 - $103,000 USD
