The Assistant Treasurer (Sr Director) will have responsibility for leading Corporate Treasury and M&A activities, with significant visibility to global commercial and investment banking partners, credit rating agencies, senior business and finance leadership and the Board. The Assistant Treasurer will lead Global Capital Planning, Capital Markets & Funding, International Finance, Cash Flow & Capital Investments and M&A transactions, as well as special projects and the investment of funds held by Company retirement & health benefit plans. You will report to VP Treasury & Financial Services and lead a team of 6+.

This role will be Lake Forest, IL office based 2 days per week.

• Identify and secure appropriate funding sources for us and our subsidiaries, both domestically and internationally. Ensure that cash is available so that Company business can be conducted without interruption. Ensure that funding is provided at the lowest possible cost and maintain cash management procedures.
• Maintain relations with the banking community and the rating agencies (e.g., Standard & Poor's; Moody's Investors Service).
• Form recommendations for overall capital structure, including optimizing our overall capital structure, credit ratings and funding plans, approach to investing and return of capital strategies, and dividend and share repurchase policies.
• Develop and execute funding plans and capital markets activities, including strategies and negotiations around our revolving credit facility, commercial paper and other funding vehicles, liability management activities, periodic issuance of public debt, execution of share repurchase plans, and development / execution of FX hedging strategies.
• Optimize capital structures and execute funding strategies for international businesses, including appropriately capitalizing overseas businesses, repatriating excess overseas cash and optimizing the Company's complex international legal entity structure to facilitate efficient business and funding activity.
• Lead the Company's balance sheet and cash flow analysis, drive cash generation across each of the Company's businesses and optimize the Company's capital investment process to maximize ROI and drive value creation.
• Lead global cash investment and cash administration. Additionally, collaborate with international businesses and financial services leadership to drive efficient operation of receivables and payables processing.
• Assist in corporate development (if necessary), including collaboration with corporate strategy, business leadership and investment banking partners to lead valuation and diligence, negotiate transactions and design & implement integration plans.
• Lead special projects, including analyses of capital allocation, benchmarking / comparative analyses vs. peers and other projects that involve coordination with banks or other outside advisors.
• Be a member of the Profit Sharing Investment Committee, which manages 401(k) plans, the Grainger Canada pension plan, our 3 voluntary employee benefit associations (VEBA's), and retirement and benefit plans maintained by our international teams.

• 10+ years of similar relevant experience (required); experience in capital planning, capital markets, international finance and cash operations preferable.
• MBA in finance or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience building relationships within the financial community, including commercial and investment bankers and rating agencies.
• Able to synthesize and communicate complex issues, form initial hypotheses, and identify the data required to confirm hypotheses.
• Demonstrated ability to develop strategic partnerships and work with others to accomplish objectives and results.
• Ability to influence others and build a consensus.
