What is Howdy.com?

We're a nearshore hiring company HQ'd in Austin, Texas. Howdy is a Y Combinator startup that helps US tech companies hire and manage software engineers in Latin America. We built this fancy dream team complete with decades of sales, leadership, investment, and engineering experience to fundamentally change the way tech companies build their dev teams. Our execs are renowned in the tech world and word-of-mouth has been our best friend.

Our ideal candidate is located in Austin, Texas...

Is overly organized, fast-thinking, proactive, and highly intelligent. Our department head needs someone by their side with grit. Someone who doesn't just take a task off their plate but instead runs with it, organizes it, and makes it 100 times better.

Said person needs to be able to process, synthesize, and organize large amounts of data and information on a regular basis. Ideally this person is energized, positive, and has a zest for life.

Our ideal candidate doesn't see any task as too small or beneath them. It's important to note that the assistant position is one of the most important jobs in the company as they take several tasks off the plate of our department head which allows Howdy to thrive.

The important traits we're looking for to fill this position are:

  • People Whisperer: Being a maestro in the art of interaction you'll need top-notch interpersonal skills to navigate smoothly with colleagues, clients, and partners, always with the utmost professionalism and grace.
  • Flexibility Extraordinaire: Willingness to bend it like Beckham (not literally, of course) when it comes to working outside regular office hours. Sometimes, you'll need to be the unsung hero who swoops in to save the day when the CEO needs it most.

Your Mission:

  • Calendar Commander: Wrangling meetings, appointments, and events like a pro rodeo rider. Your scheduling skills will make or break you.
  • Communication Commander: Drafting emails and messages that hit the bullseye every time. Your writing game will be on point.
  • Problem-solving Prowess: Quick thinking and creative problem-solving skills are essential for tackling unexpected challenges.
  • Secret Vault: Keeping it confidential and showing your poker face.
  • Logistics Wizard: Planning travel, organizing supplies, and making the office tick like clockwork. You're the secret sauce to our efficiency.
  • Multitasking Mastery: The capacity to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities seamlessly without losing sight of important details.
  • Meeting Marvel: Prepping meetings and even planning for some fancy events.
  • Expense Magic: Keeping tabs on expenses, receipts, and financial wizardry.
  • Social Media Guru: Posting and updating content and engaging with followers.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinating with vendors surrounding company events and negotiating contracts like a pro.
  • Document Whisperer: Organizing important papers like a boss.
  • Team Cheerleader: Spreading positivity and keeping our office morale sky-high. You're the sunshine on our cloudy days.
  • Office Wrangler: Helping personalize, manage, and maintain our Austin office

All this and more! As Assistant tothe Head of Internal Communications your week will be a rollercoaster of tasks. You'll need to be a master juggler, balancing it all with grace and a smile. Plus, when it comes to work hours and location, think more flexible than a rubber band at a yoga class.

Yep, we've got some core hours, but there'll be moments when you're burning the midnight oil. So, if you're expecting a cozy 9-to-5 desk job, this might not be your cup of ylang-ylang. Dependable transportation is a must, as you might be playing errand-runner now and then.

You should probably apply if you meet these minimum requirements:

  • 2+ years professional experience as an executive assistant or equivalent
  • Tech-savvy with working knowledge of different project management tools
  • College degree strongly preferred, but we understand that work hustle life

You should really seriously apply if any of the following applies to you:

  • Extreme organization (you can pull a receipt from that car part you had to buy in 2005)
  • Meticulous calendar management (no double booking or same-day meetings on your watch)
  • Wiz-kid level knowledge of Apple products, Google suite, and presentation software
  • Certifications in project management courses or training programs
  • A sense of humor (you can tell an amazing joke, and laugh at a really bad one)
  • Habla espaol? 94% of our team's first language is Spanish so knowing it would be incredible, but not necessary.

Salary

All positions at Howdy are salaried, paid out bi-monthly. This position offers a salary of $40,000-$45,000 per year, depending on experience. We do not accept any emails or phone calls about this position.
