Job purpose
The assistant golf course superintendent reports directly to the golf course superintendent. Under the superintendent's supervision, the Assistant Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, and cart paths; supervises the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment; and does related work as required. The Assistant Superintendent may serve in the superintendent's capacity during his/her absence.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual who is a self starter and wants to better their career in the golf course industry. Must be willing to learn new skills and can manage employees in a proffessional way.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, and the adherence of the Operational budget.
- Attend and participate in weekly department and other periodic employee and member meetings.
- Prepare, organize and maintain the club?s Calendar of Events by communicating with the Course Superintendent.
- Protect the assets of the Club.
- Operate within all guidelines, policies, standards and constraints as established by Hampton Golf.
- Provide club orientation to new members as instructed by Superintendent.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Spray Pesticides
- Daily course set-up
- Mowing, string trimming, landscape bed work
- Assist Superintendent in disease/weed identification
- Assist technician when necessary
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways and greens; seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf; planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; irrigation systems, including wells, pumps, and automatic controls.
- Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment; prepare clear and concise reports; maintain effective employee and public relations.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- May require current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.
Compensation - $19-$23 / hr
