The Assistant School Nurse is responsible for assisting the School Nurse in providing a specialized nursing practice that advances the well being and academic success of students. The Assistant School Nurse will also assist in preventive and screening services, health education and assistance with decision-making about health and immunizations for the Providence Creek Academy Charter School. The Assistant School Nurse will assist the School Nurse in preventive health services to facilitate the student's optimal physical, mental, emotional and social growth and development. Identifies problems and disabilities and provides such services as case finding, health education, referring and care in order to help prevent serious health problems which would later be more difficult and costly to address.

Under the supervision of the School Nurse, the Assistant School Nurse will:
- Triage patients
- Assist and provide healthcare to students and staff
- Create complete sub plans that allow any person to step in at anytime
- Assist in health screening services such as vision, hearing and body mass index
- Coordinate referrals to private healthcare providers
- Maintain clinical records
- Assist with monitoring immunizations, managing communicable diseases, and assessing the school environment to prevent injury and ensure safety
- Assist with medication administration, healthcare procedures, and develop healthcare plans
- Promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- Current license for State of Delaware
- L.P.N. required - higher preferred
- CPR / AED Certification active for the next 6 months
- 3-5 years of acute health care and medical documentation experience
- Prior Pediatric Care experience preferred
- Knowledge of ESchool preferred
Ability to:
- Communicate with staff and family members effectively and efficiently
- Remain organized with charting, patients, documenting communication, and files
- Be flexible and adaptive based on the students' needs in the office
- Respond to emergencies in a calm and collected manner
- Differentiate communication and care plans based on clients
Compensation:
This position will require approximately 20 hours per week per week during the school year.
Compensation: $25/hour
