Assistant Safety Engineer

Lagan Construction, LLC is a third-generation family-owned general contractor specializing in airfield construction. We have successfully completed airfield projects for Ronald Reagan National Airport, Minot Air Force Base, NASA Wallops Flight Facility, Nava Air Station Whiting Field, Biggs Army Airfield, Joint Base Andrews, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Westover Air Reserve Base, Farmville Regional Airport, Lonesome Pine Airport, and Pensacola International Airport.

We have an immediate need for a full-time Assistant Safety Engineer for a runway rehabilitation project at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

GENERAL ROLES AND RESPOSIBILITIES (R&Rs)

Along with the Safety Manager and Safety Engineer, the Assistant Safety Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of Company and Client Safety and Health policies and procedures on site for the delivery of Projects in a Safe environment. The following reflects the main tasks and responsibilities associated with the position:

• Conducting project safety inductions, daily safety briefings, weekly toolbox talks, and safety training
• Preparing Activity Hazard Analyses (JHA’s) / Risk Assessments
• Performing and documenting safety inspections
• Communicating effectively with employees, supervisors, managers, and customers
• Performing incident investigations and written reports
• Recognizing hazards and risks, and suggesting corrective action
• Ensuring compliance with 29CFR1926 and EM385-1-1
• Maintaining safety equipment (PPE, fire extinguishers, first aid supplies, etc.)
• Lead and document safety meetings
• Assist with preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports
• Documenting observations and near misses
• Assist with management and distribution of site PPE

RENUMERATION

• Pay Rate: Competitive annual salary based upon experience and expertise
• Hours: 7:30am to 5:30pm (typical, 40 to 60hrs per week expected), night works as per Project requirements
• Vacation: 25 days per year plus 9 Statutory Holidays as per Company Schedule
• Vehicle: Use of assigned company vehicle as deemed required
