Mariani Packing Company, the largest independent dried fruit processor and packer in the United States is expanding. The position will work at our growing operation in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. located on the east side of Wisconsin Rapids, just off Hwy 54 and only 15 minutes from Plover. The Assistant Safety Coordinator will help lead the employee safety program for the production facility while also helping with the implementation and maintaining of new procedures to improve plant safety. This position will be dedicated to consistent process improvements to ensure compliance with food safety and general safety policies. The Assistant Safety Coordinator will work cooperatively with the Safety Manager, Safety Coordinator, and Human Resources. This position will be 2nd Shift working 3:00pm - 11:30pm Monday - Friday, with occasional nights and weekends when needed.

Responsibilities
Provide leadership, direction and coaching to co-workers, with the goal of consistently reducing injuries and eliminating unsafe work practices.
Takes a proactive approach to injury prevention.
Contribute to safety team and safety meetings.
Train and coach employees on safe work practices and policies, promoting an accident-free environment.
Assists with ensuring that current and future OSHA and state requirements are met.
Assists with ensuring that all required incident reporting has been filled out and turned in. Also helps ensure that all required information has been documented on these forms, contacts responsible parties for any missing or insufficient information.
Assist with evaluating injury data to identify key trends.
Assists with the goal of consistently reducing workers comp claims.
Hands-on, day-to-day, guidance with staff in a food manufacturing environment.
Other duties as assigned by Safety Manager

Preferred Requirements
1 to 2 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven organizational and time management skills.
Strong computer Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) skills.
Work proactively and exhibit a sense of urgency during the work day.
Goal orientated with a genuine interest in meeting short-term and long-term goals.
Ability to multi-task and juggle a number of projects and responsibilities at the same time.
Self-starter with the motivation to succeed in a growing business.
Strong team player with the ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
A desire to grow within the company.
