ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY
POSITION: Assistant Professor, a non-tenure faculty position in the Teacher Education program
QUALIFICATIONS: PhD or EdD in Education or related field and teaching experience in higher education preferred; Master’s degree with substantial professional experience required. ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of instructor.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will teach Undergraduate Teacher Education courses on EMU’s campus and supervise place-based practicum placements in Harrisonburg, Virginia.The successful candidate will be equipped to teach introductory teacher preparation courses as well as elementary and/or secondary methods courses. Based on expertise, the successful candidate may also teach online Graduate Teacher Education courses that include synchronous instruction via Zoom. The successful candidate will participate in Teacher Education Program meetings.
POSITION DETAILS: Nine-month contract. 21 or more semester hours per year, which yields benefits. Salary determined by education and experience. K-12 teaching experience and knowledge of restorative justice in education are strongly preferred. EMU Teacher Education faculty are committed to modeling an ethic of care and facilitating critical reflection in their interactions with candidates.Familiarity with and commitment to the EMU Teacher Education Conceptual Framework is essential.
