ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY
POSITION: Assistant Professor, a non-tenure faculty position in the Teacher Education program
QUALIFICATIONS: PhD or EdD in Education or related field and teaching experience in higher education preferred; Master’s degree with substantial professional experience required. ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of instructor.
POSITION DETAILS: Nine-month contract. 21 or more semester hours per year, which yields benefits. Salary determined by education and experience.
- K-12 teaching experience and knowledge of restorative justice in education are strongly preferred.
- EMU Teacher Education faculty are committed to modeling an ethic of care and facilitating critical reflection in their interactions with candidates.
- Familiarity with and commitment to the EMU Teacher Education Conceptual Framework is essential
Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will teach Undergraduate Teacher Education courses on EMU’s campus and supervise place-based practicum placements in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
- The successful candidate will be equipped to teach introductory teacher preparation courses as well as elementary and/or secondary methods courses.
- Based on expertise, the successful candidate may also teach online Graduate Teacher Education courses that include synchronous instruction via Zoom.
- The successful candidate will participate in Teacher Education Program meetings.
