Job description

 Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at Oklahoma State University is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank or higher. Exceptional candidates in Mechanical Engineering are encouraged to apply; applicants should have teaching and research interests in an area of Mechanical or aerospace engineering.   The successful candidate will have demonstrated potential for developing a strong externally funded research program and for excellent teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. An earned Ph.D. in a field closely aligned to mechanical or aerospace engineering is required, and an earned B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited or equivalent program is preferred. The research areas of the successful applicant must be in a rapidly developing area and reflect a strong promise of competitive, extramural funding to support building an internationally recognized research program. The School intends to hire one highly qualified candidate (contingent upon available funding).  Preference will be given to candidates interested in collaborative efforts and multi-disciplinary multi-investigator research programs in MAE. While all competitive candidates with expertise in all areas of Mechanical Engineering will be considered, we are particularly seeking expertise in the areas of data science and artificial intelligence, including algorithm and system design, physics-informed machine learning, data-driven modelling, big data assimilation, reduced order modeling, uncertainty quantification, high-performance computing, digital twins for complex systems, Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems, and other related areas with applications in mechanical and aerospace engineering discipline. The candidate should have an interest in building a research program in an area relevant to MAE, including, but not limited to, system design, mechanics, thermal systems, fluid dynamics, materials and manufacturing, energy systems, autonomous systems, and sustainability.   Oklahoma State University is a comprehensive land grant university with over 24,000 students on its main campus. The university has a strong national presence in interdisciplinary programs including unmanned aircraft systems with strong industry and government ties. The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is the largest engineering program in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT) and one of the largest departments in the university. With more than 34 full-time faculty members, 1100 undergraduates and 140 graduate students, MAE is home to several large campus research enterprises, including the Oklahoma Aerospace Institute for Aerospace Research and Education, the Counter-UAS Center of Excellence, the LaunchPad Center for Advanced Mobility, the Center for Integrated Building Systems, and the New Product Development Center.  Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. in a field closely aligned to mechanical or aerospace engineering is required, and an earned B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited or equivalent program is preferred.   Applications: Interested and qualified candidates should apply online at https://jobs.okstate.edu.
