Description:
LAKELAND UNIVERSITY, an independent liberal arts institution located in east central Wisconsin, invites applications from a diverse group of qualified candidates for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Education, to begin in August 2024. Lakeland seeks a candidate committed to serving a diverse student community who could teach a range of undergraduate courses in Education and occasional graduate offerings within the Master of Arts in Education. Course teaching requirements will primarily be in the areas of language arts teaching techniques, social studies teaching techniques, and reading teaching techniques. The Assistant Professor also will support reporting and data collection efforts related to Department of Public Instruction requirements and represent the Education program in the community.
This is a full-time, renewable, tenure-track position with a 24-credit teaching load expectation and nine-month contract. A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Education or a related field is required for the rank of Assistant Professor and tenure. The ideal candidate also will have college and K-12 teaching experience and hold certification as a reading specialist.
Compensation will be commensurate with background and experience and a comprehensive benefit program is offered.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctoral degree in Education or a related area is required for the tenure-track rank of Assistant Professor
- Successful teaching experience in higher education preferred
- Certification as a reading specialist is also preferred
- Minimum five years of language arts and/or social studies teaching experience in a K-12 setting
- Commitment to working with first-generation students and learners of diverse backgrounds
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Teach undergraduate and occasional graduate courses in Education.
- Advise students as assigned.
- Represent the Education program in the community, including work with local school districts and technical college partners.
- Work with the program director and dean to identify appropriate adjunct instructors.
- Support reporting and data collection efforts related to Department of Public Instruction requirements.
- Teach in both traditional and hybrid learning environments.
- Support and contribute to the university’s general education program.
- Participate in educational assessment activities.
- Participate in institutional service opportunities as assigned.
- Participate in the recruitment and admission of students to the Education program.
- Hold regular office hours on a weekly basis.
- Respond in a timely manner to calls or emails from students, colleagues, or supervisors.
- Use university technology as directed.
