Position Description:

Assistant Professor inthe Department of Pediatrics will devote full-time attention and efforts tofulfilling at the highest levels of professional competence the ethical,educational, and academic duties and responsibilities of the appointment as maybe assigned to you by the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics.  You will be expected to participate fully andwith distinction in both undergraduate and graduate medical education, and tocarry out your share of advising duties and committee assignments. Your primaryresponsibilities, representing approximately 90% of your effort will be toprovide clinical services in your specialty of Pediatrics. Along with yourclinical duties, it is expected that you will actively participate in thetraining program for medical students and residents and engage in research andscholarship.
>Other teachingresponsibilities include:
>Attendance at monthly Grand Rounds presentations
>Presenter at Grand Rounds (1 or more times annually)
>Case Based Learning lectures to medical students
>Attendance and participation at didactic sessions
>Attendance at monthly faculty meetings

Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
>Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Ohio
>Membership and in good standing on the medical staff of the University of Toledo Medical Center and affiliated hospitals, with clinical privileges in the Department of Pediatrics, in accordance with the Medical Staff bylaws, rules and regulations and applicable policies.
>Eligibility as a certified provider in the Medicare, Medicaid and other federal and state health care programs; and
>Insurability in the professional liability policy of the practice plan.
>Active candidacy or diplomate status with the American Board of Pediatrics
>Successful completion of a 4-year accredited Pediatrics residency with suitability for performance of general Pediatrics inpatient and outpatient clinical duties.
Communication andother skills:
>Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required.
>Demonstrates strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and self-motivation with the ability to motivate others
>Ability to learn new systems and adapt to changes.
>Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
>Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity is essential.
>Must possess valid driver's license. Requires own transportation to accommodate on and off work activities.
>Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate department needs (early AM or later PM meetings as required).

Working Conditions:

Works in a professional office and clinical environment with possible high stress levels. Ability to work on call covering an inpatient Pediatric hospitalist service in conjunction with a Pediatric residency program.
