Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Neurosurgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure Clinician Educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of pediatric neurosurgical oncology and research focused on the use of cellular immunotherapies and mRNA-based therapeutics targeting pediatric brain tumors. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Completion of a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship is required. Must be ABNS board eligible in Neurosurgery and Pediatric Neurosurgery.
Teaching responsibilities may include the education and training of medical students, residents and fellows as well as formal lecture opportunities within the Department.
Clinical responsibilities may include brain, spine and peripheral nerve surgery; including, but not limited to, the treatments of brain tumors, spinal cord tumors, hydrocephalus, trauma, craniosynostosis, and congenital spinal disorders.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include the development of a robust research program and basic and translational research in the field of immunotherapy and neuro-oncology cancer, supervision of research staff and post-doctoral fellows, writing of grants, reports, and manuscripts as well as coordination of preclinical testing and clinical trials. Evidence of scholarship is required in the Clinician-Educator track.The successful candidate will have an active research portfolio in the area of cancer immunotherapy and a demonstrated ability to build and maintain academic and industry collaborations. Candidates who are experienced in directing a translational research laboratory will be highly considered.We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense.
