Purpose/Summary
The Community College of Denver's (CCD) educational programs are designed to enrich the social, civic, and economic fabric of our community, nation, and the world. We currently enroll 8,032 students, the majority of whom are from racially minoritized populations. Thirty-three percent of CCD's students identify as Hispanic, 32% as White; 10.6% as African American, 7% as International, 5.3% as Asian, 3.7% as more than one race, less than 1% as American Indian/Alaskan Native, and less than 1% as Hawaiian or Pacific Islander. Additionally, CCD students are diverse in LGBTQAI+ identity, socioeconomic status, religion, age, veteran status, citizenship status, and nationality.
The Architectural Technology/CAD Program provides workforce education and training to students, leading to certificates and degrees in Architectural Technology that provide a basis for paraprofessional entry-level career advancement, as well as robust transfer opportunities into four-year undergraduate architecture programs. The department also provides critical digital design training and support for students in CCD's Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing programs.
This is a full-time faculty position, teaching an important and unique range of introductory-to-advanced courses in design theory, sustainable design concepts and methodologies, and digital design applications. The faculty will share in the administration of the department, and collaborates on projects and service to the department, pathway, and college. This position reports directly to the Chair of the Architectural Technology/CAD programs in the Arts, Communication and Design Pathway. The faculty works collaboratively with the Chair and other discipline faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be a will be a well-rounded educator who invests in teaching and learning support in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats and has a high interest to engage in collaboration with interdisciplinary programs and/or contribute to their course offerings based on area of expertise, as well as participate cross-functionally within the institution.
Primary teaching duties will be introductory and advanced AEC and CAD courses as specified herein. When appropriate, faculty will have the opportunity to be awarded alternative assignments for administrative and leadership duties.
The successful candidate will also deliver instruction using the latest tools, technology, and user-centered design and pedagogical frameworks. They will have demonstrated experience in effective course- and program-level assessment practices and will have a dedication to ongoing professional development in the field of education as well as design. They will be able to assume leadership responsibilities and exhibit effective organizational skills and articulate written and verbal communication skills. While teaching a curriculum grounded in core values of critical thinking and design/visual thinking, they will also mentor and model respect, competence, professional development, and ethical responsibility. A commitment to student academic success and faculty advising that goes beyond the classroom is essential. Helping to assess and improve student enrollment, course success, and graduation rates will be integral to this position.
In addition to teaching, all full-time faculty are expected to provide service to the college. The successful candidate will collaborate with the department chair and other Architectural Technology/CAD adjuncts on Perkins (evidence and grants), program-level assessment, fundraising, and growing the program to include building non-credit courses that may lead to additional certificates and degrees in architecture, interior design, digital design media, and sustainable design. We seek an individual who is a competent grant writer and who can assist in the management of budget and purchasing obligations. The selected candidate will assist in overseeing the maintenance, use, and growth of our Architectural Technology/CAD labs, including the workstations, scanners, printers, and modeling equipment. We are interested in a candidate who is skilled project manager and has or is willing to build community connections to bridge our educational programs with workforce experience and job opportunities. They will also develop and modify curriculum and engage in other departmental initiatives and responsibilities, including efforts to maintain departmental coherence across Colorado Online @ and our concurrent enrollment courses.
Full-time faculty may also be expected to share in broader department coordination duties on a collaborative basis. These administrative duties may include course scheduling and staffing, hiring and supervising of adjunct instructors, resolving and mediating instructor/student disputes, mentoring adjunct instructors, or taking on the role of department Chair.
As an Architectural Technology/CAD faculty, you are expected to continue to be active within your professional discipline. You will need to demonstrate 2,000-4,000 relevant work experience hours to be initially credentialed to teach and will need to be re-credentialed continually thereafter. You can demonstrate evidence of coursework, workshops/seminar time, and/or work experience to be re-credentialed.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • Master of Architecture or Interior Design
  • Registered NCARB or NCIDQ Certification
  • LEED Accredited Professional Certification
  • Career and Technical Education (CTE) Credential for AEC and CAD (IND and HS CTE credentials desirable in addition)

Experience:
  • At least 10 semesters of post-secondary teaching experience, including:
  • Demonstrated training in, and experience with, teaching in different modalities: online asynchronous (at least 6 semesters), synchronous remote, and in-person
  • Ability to teach human factors and concepts of environmental psychology of design, from the scale of ergonomics, anthropometrics, and human behavior in interior space, through the larger scales of urban design and placemaking
  • Experience with designing and writing content for AEC/CAD courses as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and creating content in D2L
  • Experience in designing and implementing program level assessment for AEC/CAD classes
  • Experience writing, procuring, and assessing Perkins Grants
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (including Teams).

  • CAD2220 Revit Architecture
  • CAD1110 SketchUp
  • AEC1100 Introduction to Design Theory
  • AEC2300 Sustainable Building Systems
  • AEC2310 LEED Exam Preparation

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Skill in working with students from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Practice addressing issues of equity and closing the equity gap in the classroom.
  • Familiarity with building relationships with industry partners and community outreach approaches.
  • Familiarity with an online learning management system such as Desire to Learn to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties (posting office hours, syllabi, etc.).
  • Experience with student advising.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Evidence of high levels of initiative with minimal supervision needed.
  • Experience working with industry partners and professional organizations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Knowledge of and/or experience using Open Education Resources (OER).
• Knowledge and/or experience with grants, especially Perkins.
• Experience with committee work and teaching in higher and post-secondary education (at least 6 semesters preferred)
• ACUE Effective Teaching Practice Certificate
