Assistant Product Manager

SUMMARY
Assists in the development and management of product lines by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Working with the Product Manager, assists with the development of product line business plans and corresponding budgets.
Plays an active managing role in the new product development process, in coordination with cross-functional teams within the organization.
Assists Product Manager with maintaining a predictable and reliable product development launch schedule across multiple product lines.
Continuously monitors sales of new and existing products, gauges market and consumer trends, and makes recommendations for product improvements or discontinuation.
Supports supervisor in preparation of annual and seasonal product line reviews, including collecting competitive products, analyzing sales data, reviewing inventory positions, setting pricing and preparing mockups.
Tracks inventory of finished goods and packaging materials as required.
Prepares all documentation necessary to bring new products to life, including product specs, item codes, price lists, sell sheets, product brochures, etc.
Submits Creative Service Requests for the division, edits and proofs package designs.
Prepares reports and presentations for sales meetings and key stakeholders.
Inherent in each position is a general duty to maintain each respective work area in a safe and sanitary condition. Regular, predictable, full-time attendance is required as an essential function of this position. The employee must also possess the ability to take direction, follow instructions, work with others, follow work rules and schedules, and focus on details.
SKILLS
Excellent spreadsheet and budget tracking skills are required.
Excellent project management and organizational skills are required, as well as superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must be self-motivated, customer-focused and detail-oriented
Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of IRI/ACNielson and Spectra is a plus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Minimum Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university and/or a minimum 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience with product development in a CPG environment.
• Familiar with syndicated data (IRI; Nielson, etc.).
• Experience developing products for multiple channels (Food, Drug, Mass, Club, Convenience, Specialty).
• Experience representing Marketing in cross functional teams on product development initiatives.
• Ability to influence project stakeholders while demonstrating diplomacy and professionalism.
• Demonstrated strong analytical and quantitative skills and the ability to use data and metrics to support recommendations.
• Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
