SUMMARY/SCOPE:
The Holland School of Science and Mathematicsinvites candidates to apply to join a growing area of the university. TheUniversity is expanding heavily in STEM initiatives including engineering,technology, and health care. The Computer Science department will be anintegral part of this growth. Thedepartment has a solid student group with near 100% placement for graduateswhile also supporting other areas such as cybersecurity.
The CS department is looking for a non-tenure track facultymember to teach undergraduate courses. The candidate must possess a master'sdegree in Computer Science or related field with preference given to those witha Ph.D. The teaching load is 12 credits per semester with summer teachingpossible with additional compensation. The CS department teaches topics inprogramming, database, networking, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence,UI/UX, system administration, and web development. While the primary focus isimparting knowledge in the classroom, it is the goal of the CS department todevelop students into productive community members; therefore, experienceoutside the classroom of mentoring and discipling is also expected.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide exemplary teaching ofintroductory and upper-level Computer Science classes.
Advise current and prospectivestudents studying Computer Science.
Collaborate effectively withfaculty, staff, administrators, and members of the community.
Participate in recruitmentactivities for the Computer Science program as well as the university.
Provide service to the universitythrough involvement in committees as well as university activities (e.g.,commencement).
Engage in ongoing scholarly workas well as professional development.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Thereare no supervisor responsibilities, except for student workers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the mostcomplex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitiveinquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using originalor innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasivespeeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to topmanagement, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to comprehend and apply principles ofadvanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability towork with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations,and proofs of theorems.
REASONING ABILITY: Abilityto apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range ofintellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism(formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its mostdifficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concretevariables.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Toperform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of WordProcessing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software; Computer-AidedDesign (CAD) software, Design software; Payroll systems and Order processingsystems.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree in Computer Science (or closely relatedarea) is required.
A doctoraldegree is preferred, though ABD candidates will be considered.
Teachingexperience is preferred.

This positionis a Full-Time, Exempt Level Faculty position with a teaching load at the Hardin-SimmonsUniversity campus.
In addition toteaching, this position often requires extensive evening and/or week-end workin order to meet academic deadlines and/or to attend various campus events,graduation ceremonies, etc.
Ability totravel for recruiting or training is desired.
Must have andmaintain a valid Class C Driver's License and maintain a clear driving recordto be insurable under the university liability policy.
Must be able todrive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
