Dallas, Texas (USA). The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Pathology is seeking an accomplished academic pathologist or scientist with subspecialty training and expertise in histocompatibility and immunogenetics. The applicant must have an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD and be certified by ACHI (previously ABHI). If possessing a medical degree, the applicant must have or be eligible for a Texas medical license.
The successful candidate will have experience in histocompatibility testing, transplant immunology and immunogenetics, and be able to provide clinical laboratory support for solid organ and stem cell transplantation recipients and donors. Additional training in Clinical Pathology is a plus. Excellent diagnostic and communication skills, a commitment to service excellence and teaching, and interest in scholarly work are required. Primary responsibilities include providing technical direction for histocompatibility testing, interpreting, and reporting clinical tests, consulting with direct care providers and other clinical colleagues.
The selected candidate will be expected to participate in medical student and house staff teaching and develop or continue his/her research program. Outstanding opportunities for collaborative, translational research are available with members of basic science and clinical departments throughout UTSW.
