PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist the Store Manager in overseeing the daily operations of their assigned Team Store location and manage staff to ensure a quality fan experience which maximizes sales revenue and promotes a positive image of the Cleveland Guardians organization. Assist with the Sales division of Game Used/Authentic merchandise and work to build lasting relationships with all fans.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES & DUTIES:

Human Resources

  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and developing retail teammates.
  • Teach, train and lead staff focus on sales and fan satisfaction.
  • Hold staff accountable for results. Coach/counsel and take appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Utilize ABI and leverage UltiPro for staff scheduling and employee onboarding and management.
  • Manage and execute compliance with all Human Resources standard operating procedures.
  • Assist other retail managers with staff development programs as needed.

Merchandising

  • Ensure the sales floor (including windows/displays, where applicable) is visually merchandised to company standards.
  • Ensure backstock and stockrooms are organized and maintained to company standards.
  • Ensure daily recovery (re-stocking, sizing, "pinch & pull", general cleanliness).
  • Ensure markdowns are completed timely and accurately (including backstock/stockrooms).
  • Communicate with other retail managers what Merchandising successes work at your location.
  • Based on research, communicate merchandising needs/opportunities to Store Manager and buying team.
  • Assist in managing Silver Crystals jersey personalization process including customizing jerseys, letter/number inventory, and staff training on all processes.

Operations/Loss Prevention

  • Proper staffing/scheduling to support the needs of the business.
  • Perform Store opening procedures.
  • Control budget for sales associate payroll, based on sales and trends.
  • Manage controllable operational expenses (supplies, store maintenance, travel, etc.)
  • Complete understanding with the ability to and perform and train others on all management functions on the POS system and backroom PC.
  • Manage inventory control (receiving, product distribution, transfers, cycle counts, damages, MOSs, year-end physical inventory), keeping accounting department and Distribution Center aware of all shipment discrepancies (merchandise as well as supplies).
  • Assist in developing and execute training of staff on internal/external loss prevention methods.
  • Store Closing and banking procedures.
  • Track sales and redemption of Indians Gift Cards through intranet and POS reports in conjunction with Accounting Department.
  • Additional projects/responsibilities as assigned by Store Manager.

Selling/Fan Satisfaction

  • Assist Store Manager in driving sales results in assigned location.
  • Role Model START with HEART service models and suggestive selling for sales staff.
  • Ensure compliance and maintain the "Image of Champions" to maximize sales opportunities and ensure fan satisfaction.
  • Daily tracking and planning of sales.
  • Utilize and analyze sales reports.
  • Review store productivity goals and results with Store Manager.
  • Create store contests that drive sales and profit results.
  • Play an active role in the planning and leading of quarterly store team meeting.
  • Assist in planning for special events (player appearances, Guards Fest, etc.).
  • Where applicable, promote store business on a local level by serving as a Community Ambassador through local programs and events.

Game Used/Authentics Sales

  • Alongside Store Manager maintain relationship building with current fan base and build new relationships with potential collectors interested in Game Used/Authentic items.
  • Communicate daily through emails, phone calls and in-person conversations with fans.
  • In conjunction with Store Manager assist in all types of sales and inventory control of Game Used/Authentic merchandise (Team Store sales floor, direct sales, MLB online auctions, and in-park auctions).
  • Actively contribute to meetings with involved staff to enhance and grow the business.
  • Assist Merchandising Department with other Game Used/Authentics tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate with other MLB clubs as necessary regarding Game Used/Authentics.

Social Media

  • Work with Assistant Director Retail Operations and Store Manager as necessary to maintain strong social media presence with focus on maximizing revenue and connecting with fans (duties may include content ideation, copy writing, photography assistance, or other duties as assigned by supervisor).
  • Complete MLB forms submitted by fans daily and follow up on all requests.
  • Collaborate with other MLB clubs as necessary regarding social media.
  • Additional projects/responsibilities as assigned by Store Manager.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred (Business Management, Hospitality, or other related field preferred); or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous Retail Management experience preferred, or two (2) years other management experience.

JOB SKILLS:

  • Ability to recruit, hire, train, and manage a high volume of staff.
  • Proven success in handling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong management, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft computer systems (Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint).

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required to work irregular and long shifts as the business dictates.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting.
  • Required to work a minimum of 75% of all regular season home games based on Retail MOD schedule (as determined by attendance, department needs and Assistant Director, Retail Operations).
  • Required to work 100% of all jewel events (Opening Day, Post Season, Jeweled Games, Special Events, etc.) and holiday home baseball games.
  • Game-day hour requirement: minimum of 2.5 hours prior to gates opening and 1-hour post-game as dictated by job responsibilities and workload.
  • Non-game hours are based operating hours, with a minimum of 5 days and 40 hours per week, based on job responsibilities, workload, and store needs.

  • Occasional physical activity such as lifting and carrying boxes up to 50 lbs.
