Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. is a leading global manufacturer of golf cars, utility and personal transportation
vehicles, snowmobiles, side-by-sides, all-terrain vehicles, professional turf-care equipment, and ground support
equipment. Textron Specialized Vehicles markets products under several different brands. Its vehicles are found in
environments ranging from golf courses to factories, airports to planned communities, and theme parks to hunting
preserves.
Responsibilities:
Provide professional support and analysis in the identification, creation, protection, licensing, and reporting
of intellectual property.
Manage outside counsel in filing patent applications and drafting non-infringement and invalidity opinions.
Coordinate with engineering and to identify patentable inventions, cultivate invention disclosures, and
manage outside counsel in filing patent applications.
Collaborate cross-functionally to train engineers and managers on the patent process.
Work with othersin matrixed Textron organization to protect intellectual property rights and avoid thirdparty intellectual property rights.
Negotiate and advise businessstakeholders on various contract matters, including but not limited to joint
development agreements, service agreements, license agreements, and sponsorship agreements.
Manage trademark portfolio, including conducting trademark clearance investigations and coordinating with
outside counsel in maintenance and opposition proceedings in the United States and internationally.
Qualifications:
Education: Juris doctorate or LLM; undergraduate or advanced degree in electrical engineering, mechanical
engineering, physics, or similar field required
Years of Experience: 3 - 6 years of prior experience required, either at a law firm, in-house, or a
combination
Significant experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting freedom-to-operate analysis,
and managing trademarks and brands, additional experience with intellectual property litigation, ex parte,
PGR, and/or IPR proceedings preferred
Memberships: USPTO, state bar
Knowledge or experience in power sports and/or automotive technologies preferred
