Job description

As an Assistant Division Manager, you will manage the areas of Planning, Management and Delivery for the Division of Engineering (DOE). You will oversee many critical areas of DOE, including but not limited to Safety, Project Management, Program Management, Program Control, Environmental Coordination and Project Delivery. This includes responsibility for policy implementation for engineering related initiatives. Other management activities include initiating new methods of project delivery and oversight over the California Aqueduct Subsidence Program.

Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California's water resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and excellent communication skills and be able to foster a professional team environment with a variety of staff and partners/clients/stakeholders inside and outside of the Department. Experience and a strong understanding of program and project management principles is highly desirable as well as understanding the importance of safety as it applies to the DOE. This person will also have the ability to manage and report on a wide variety of engineering related issues on behalf of the Division Manager.
