Position Title:Assistant Director of Whole Child Support, Culture & Climate Analytics
Location: Central Office
Salary: $76,484 - $103,799
Reports to: Executive Director of Whole Child Support
Bargaining Unit: N/A

Telecommuting Eligibility: Eligible for telecommuting upt to 40% (two (2) days per week)
The Assistant Director of Whole Child SupportCulture & Climate Analytics serves as a liaison between the Division of Whole Child Support and the Division of Student Affairs and Advocacy to lead the strategic oversight of the District's culture and climate positive supports and data management. In collaboration with the Executive Director of Whole Child Support, the Assistant Director assists with the development of systems to monitor data compliance with policy and regulatory requirements, monitor internal compliance, and provide oversight of the positive behavior interventions (PBIS) and build a culture of positive behavior supports and belonging for our students. The Assistant Director provides support, training and oversight of school-based Deans of Culture, School Culture Facilitators and PBIS Coaches. The Assistant Director works under the leadership of the Executive Director of Whole Child Support to lead all Student Belonging workstreams. The Assistant Director of Whole Child SupportCulture & Climate Analytics works closely with the Senior Director of Student Affairs and Advocacy to ensure that attendance and behavior interventions led by the Division of Student Affairs and Advocacy are mutually reinforcing alongside the positive climate and culture supports.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution, Doctorate degree preferred.
  • At least 5-7 years' experience managing programs within a K-12 school or district setting. Demonstrated experience working in a school setting as a teacher, administrator or support staff focused on culture highly preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of management experience supervising teams with clear experience providing management, coaching, and support to staff members.
  • Certification or training in Restorative Practices, CHAMPS, Social Emotional Learning techniques, Calm Classroom or other mindfulness strategies, Mental Health First Aid or other similar programs is highly preferred.

Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrated success in analyzing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data from separate data sources to make recommendations on progress, gaps, and opportunities for improvement based on findings.
  • A passion and commitment to traditional public education and to students and families of Detroit.
  • A demonstrated commitment to serving the Whole Child and whole family through holistic support that account for a student's academic, physical, and social-emotional growth, development, and wellbeing.
  • A posture of servant leadership - seeing themselves as a leader who sets their staff - and the students and families they serve - above themselves. This is often a leader who leads with compassion, empathy, humility, and a high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated success delivering professional development to district and school teams in culture and climate initiatives, i.e., Restorative Practices, Social Emotional Learning, CHAMPS, Calm Classroom, Mindfulness, PBIS, etc.
  • Deep expertise of Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The ability to perform complex Excel functions is highly preferred.
  • Directly supporting schools and students in implementing mentoring programs, including peer mentoring and student supported partnerships.
  • Deep passion and belief that student performance and outcomes are driven by the sense of connection and belonging they feel within their school.
  • Assists with set-up of building facilities for events and classes as needed.
  • Locks and unlocks assigned buildings; secures building when facilities are not in use, checking for unlocked doors and windows, reports any unauthorized occupants, turns off lights.
  • Attends to emergencies when necessary.
  • Attends safety and other related meetings.
  • Takes classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products, first aid, CPR, and working relationships.
  • Calls in work orders.
  • Assists in the instruction and supervision of student help.
  • Assists with inventory control and security.
  • Enforces and supports policies established by the Facilities Manager.
  • Assists with traffic duties as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Security Clearance:
    Internal Applicants
