The Role:

Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, Assistant Director, Human Resources - Talent Acquisition oversees employee recruitment for VAI Resort. Manages the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensures that qualified applicants for employment meet minimum qualifications, plans, organizes, and processes onboarding, coordinates the background check process, and develops recruitment advertising. The Assistant Director, Human Resources – Talent Acquisition is responsible for E-Verify and is designated as the E-Verify Corporate Administrator for VAI Resort, assists with related training, supervises professional staff, oversees updates to the career’s web site, and provides metrics on Talent Acquisition performance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Functions independently within the guidelines of VAI Resort’s personnel policies and regulations, exercises considerable judgment and initiative in planning, organizing, and completing assignments, and supervises and coordinates career center professional and support staff.
  • Recruits, interviews, and hires new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the day-to-day workflow and output of the department, prioritizing and assigning projects.
  • Provides guidance and leadership on recruitment efforts; creates and implements additional training and development as needed.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Responsibilities:
  • Sets a vision of excellence for candidates’ and hiring managers’ experience with VAI’s recruitment life cycle from initial touch point through onboarding and manages execution aligned to that vision.
  • In collaboration with internal and external entities, promotes a diverse and inclusive work environment and supports VAI’s efforts to ensure VAI is accomplishing its goals and initiatives to recruit and retain a diverse workforce.
  • Builds applicant recruitment sources, recruitment outreach strategies, and community partnerships by researching and contacting a wide variety of resources and services including, but not limited to, community service organizations, colleges, employment agencies, and internet sites.
  • Ensures that applicants for employment at VAI Resort meet minimum qualification standards by assisting hiring managers in the selection process and determining the eligibility of candidates.
  • Evaluates and administers appropriate recruiting instruments and assessments.
  • Collaborates with hiring managers to determine talent needs and assists in the implementation of strategies to identify and recruit talent.
  • Manages VAI’s in-house career center by ensuring adequate staffing to support in person applicants.
  • Utilizes knowledge of relevant Human Resources-related laws, regulations, and best practices and applies them appropriately.
  • Determines the adequacy of applicant supply, recommends methods, and sources for recruitment, and provides recruitment sources with vacant position information and job specifications.
  • Manages the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), supervises monthly training sessions for VAI’s users, and oversees implementation of updates or enhancements to the system.
  • Manages job postings, including updating and creating job descriptions as needed, managing sponsored job posts and the related budget, and identifying new posting sources.
  • Interprets VAI’s policies and procedures regarding employment to supervisors, applicants, and employees by advising and explaining the authorization, recruitment, selection, and employment process.
  • Serves as VAI Resort’s Corporate Administrator for E-Verify, manages the E-Verify system by adding/deleting users, assists in resolving cases in the E-Verify system, and assists E-Verify general users by answering questions about the E-Verify system.
  • Works with VP of HR to identify potential vendors for various employment-related activities, such as temporary services, background checks, and other related employment functions.
  • Works with supervisors to provide guidance on the orientation and onboarding of new employees, contacts new employees to begin the onboarding process, provides advisement and support to new employees, and develops and maintains the new employee onboarding checklist and quick reference guides.
  • Implements recruitment efforts and assures vacancies are posted accurately in the applicant tracking system.
  • Identifies, develops, and monitors metrics and analytics to assess overall Talent Acquisition performance and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Designs and develops new HR processes to improve the efficiency of HR operations and recommends new approaches to effect continual improvement of processes and operations.
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the VP of Human Resources.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Human Resources Department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, management or related field is preferred.
  • At least eight (8) years of human resource management experience with a focus on recruitment or Talent Acquisition is preferred.
  • Previous experience overseeing the hiring process for an opening of a large-scale property/resort preferred
  • Supervisory experience or experience coordinating the work of employees is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, the ability to create presentations and reports, and the ability to learn new and emerging software are required.
  • Experience using social media for recruitment purposes (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) is preferred.
  • Certification: CP or SCP certification through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or related certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds when necessary.
  • Requires extended periods of time working on computer screens, reviewing spreadsheets, and evaluating budgets/forecasts. Strong eye stamina is necessary to maintain focus during these activities.

  • Salary range: $90,000 – $115,000
  • This position is not bonus eligible
